Linear SS-ProxPoint-GY Secured Series Weatherproof HID Proximity Reader Gray
The SS-ProxPoint-GY is a compact Secured Series proximity reader designed for access-control installations that need a small weatherproof reader body. It reads compatible HID 125 kHz proximity credentials and sends Wiegand data back to the access controller. The controller then handles user permission, relay output, door release, or gate activation.
This reader style is often selected for narrow door frames, pedestrian gate posts, and surface-mount access-control locations where a full-size reader would be too large. Because it is part of a complete access-control system, proper operation depends on the reader, controller, credentials, voltage, wiring distance, and mounting surface all being correct.

Technician Note
Small readers are convenient, but read range is shorter than larger HID readers. Mounting surface, credential type, and wiring quality can affect performance.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm controller support for Wiegand HID 125 kHz readers.
- Match the color and common order number.
- Verify mounting space and weather exposure.
- Confirm card or fob format with the access controller.
- Check wiring distance, shielded cable requirements, and power at the reader.
Important Ordering Warnings
Do not treat SS-ProxPoint, MiniProx, ProxPoint Plus, and ProxPro II readers as physically interchangeable. They differ in size, range, and mounting style.
Professional Advisory
Reader replacement on controlled doors, gates, strikes, and maglocks should be tested by a qualified access-control technician to confirm safe entry, egress, and relay operation.
Product Q&A
What is the SS-ProxPoint-GY used for?
It is used as a compact Wiegand proximity reader for compatible access-control systems.
What credential type does it support?
It is used with compatible HID 125 kHz proximity cards or fobs when the controller accepts the credential format.
Is this a stand-alone reader?
No. It must be connected to a compatible access controller.
What systems is it commonly associated with?
It is commonly associated with Linear Max 3, MiniMax 3, HubMax II, and Hub MiniMax II systems when configured for Wiegand HID readers.
