MMTC 3BXL Nema 4 Exterior Three Button w/ Lockout Surface Mount Control Station
The MMTC 3BXL is a metal exterior surface-mount enclosure built for exterior control of compatible gate, garage door, commercial overhead door, rolling door, and access-control equipment. This station provides open-close-stop control in a dedicated surface-mount enclosure, giving installers a clean way to place a local command point at a driveway entrance, service door, warehouse opening, loading area, parking access lane, or operator service location. It is commonly used when the operator control board accepts dry-contact field controls instead of a radio receiver, keypad, or card-reader command.
This product should be selected by the actual control function and wiring requirement, not just by appearance. Similar MMTC stations may have one, two, or three buttons; metal or non-metallic housings; lockout keys; protective covers; mortise or Best-style cylinder options; and single-pole or double-pole contacts. Those details affect how the station wires into the operator and whether it can replace the existing unit without modifying the site.
Compatible With
The MMTC 3BXL is compatible by control-circuit function, enclosure style, and contact arrangement. It is not tied to one single operator model. Use it only where the operator or controller supports the required dry-contact input terminals.
- Select commercial overhead door operators with low-voltage open/close/stop or command terminals.
- Select rolling steel door, rolling grille, sectional door, and industrial door control circuits.
- Select automatic gate operators and barrier gate systems that accept dry-contact field controls.
- Access-control and security installations where a local push-button station is wired into a compatible controller or operator input.
- Replacement of an existing MMTC station with the same button count, enclosure style, lockout or cover configuration, and contact arrangement.

Technician Note
The 3BXL uses the squarish metal BXL enclosure. It is different from the taller PBTL-3 and 3BLM lockout stations even though all provide open-close-stop with lockout. For three-button stations, the stop circuit is often treated differently than the open and close circuits. Do not bypass the stop circuit, lockout circuit, interlocks, photo eyes, safety edges, or monitored entrapment protection devices to make a station work.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the old MMTC part number or station style before ordering.
- Match the number of buttons to the operator control circuit.
- Check whether the job requires a stop button, lockout, protective cover, mortise cylinder, Best-style cylinder, or double-pole contacts.
- Compare enclosure dimensions, mounting holes, and conduit entry to the existing installation.
- Have high-voltage or code-sensitive wiring handled by a qualified gate, garage door, or commercial door technician.
Professional Advisory
Control-station wiring may involve low-voltage control terminals, high-voltage operator cabinets, and required safety circuits. If the operator does not respond correctly, the stop circuit is open, the door or gate moves unexpectedly, or the existing wiring is unclear, have the system checked by a qualified technician before use.
Product Questions & Answers
What does the lockout do on the MMTC 3BXL?
The lockout is used to disable or restrict the local push buttons with a key-controlled circuit. It does not replace the operator disconnect, main power disconnect, or required safety devices.
Will the MMTC 3BXL work with any gate or garage door operator?
It may be used with many operators that accept the matching dry-contact control inputs. The open, close, stop, lockout, common, and contact type must match the operator wiring diagram.
Is the MMTC 3BXL a safety device?
No. This is a control station, not a monitored entrapment protection device. It should not be used as a substitute for required photo eyes, safety edges, monitored sensors, or proper operator safety setup.
What should be checked before replacing an existing station with the MMTC 3BXL?
Check the existing part number, enclosure size, mounting holes, conduit entry, button count, lockout or cover style, contact ratings, and whether the operator requires normally open or normally closed contacts.
Can this station be installed outdoors?
This model is intended for exterior surface-mount control-station applications when installed with proper fittings, conduit, wiring practices, and weather-resistant mounting. The final installation must meet the site conditions and applicable electrical code.
