Miller Edge C182-24B Coil Cord - 18 Gauge - 2 Conductor - 24 ft. Expanded
The Miller Edge C182-24B Coil Cord - 18 Gauge - 2 Conductor - 24 ft. Expanded is a Miller Edge coil cord used to carry low-voltage sensing edge or control wiring across a moving door or gate point. This is not an operator logic board or a safety device by itself. It is the connection method between the moving edge assembly and the fixed control side of the system. Correct selection matters because a cord with the wrong conductor count, expanded length, jacket style, or monitoring configuration can create nuisance stops, open edge circuits, failed safety checks, or unsafe loose wiring during travel.
Compatibility and Application Notes
This item is compatible by wiring requirement, edge configuration, and installation layout rather than by one operator brand alone. It may be used with the following applications when the original system documentation supports the same conductor count, length, and connection style:
- Miller Edge sensing edge assemblies that require a moving-to-fixed wired connection
- Commercial sectional doors, rolling steel doors, coiling doors, and other motorized overhead door applications where the cord travel and conductor count match the installation
- Automated vehicular gate installations using a wired sensing edge where a flexible connection is required and the operator input is compatible with the edge circuit
- Miller Edge edge lead wires, junction boxes, and interface or operator input circuits when the wiring diagram calls for this conductor count
- 2-wire non-monitored electric sensing edge circuits
- 2-wire monitored resistor or diode-capacitor edge circuits when the specific edge/operator wiring diagram allows a 2-conductor coil cord
- Air-Wave or pneumatic switch circuits that only require a 2-wire low-voltage contact path
- Miller Edge DIY Air-Wave edge kit style applications where a C182 2-conductor coil cord is specified as the optional cord
- Replacement of an existing C182 2-wire coil cord with the same expanded length and jacket/construction requirement

Also Known As / Related Part Numbers
These numbers are included to help identify the correct Miller Edge cord or related service part. Related numbers are not always direct replacements.
Technician Note
Use this part only where the system calls for a 2-conductor cord. A 2-wire edge may be non-monitored or monitored by a resistor or diode-capacitor configuration, but the cord alone does not define the monitoring method. The edge, plug, controller, and operator wiring determine the correct setup.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the original Miller Edge part number or markings on the cord, reel, tag, invoice, or parts diagram.
- Match the conductor count exactly: this item is 18 AWG, 2-conductor.
- Confirm the required travel length: this item is listed as 24 ft. expanded.
- Inspect the edge configuration, operator input, and interface module before changing from 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire wiring.
- Check the routing path so the cord or reel does not stretch tight, drag, rub on sharp edges, or get pinched during a full cycle.
- For monitored UL 325 style systems, keep the required monitored edge or photo eye protection in service and do not bypass safety devices.
Professional Advisory
Sensing edge wiring is part of the safety system. Do not bypass edge inputs, monitored safety devices, or photo eyes to make an operator run. If the door or gate moves unexpectedly, reverses incorrectly, shows an edge fault, or has damaged wiring, have the system inspected by a qualified gate or commercial door technician.
Product Q&A
What is the Miller Edge C182-24B coil cord used for?
The Miller Edge C182-24B is a 18 AWG, 2-conductor coil cord used as a flexible moving connection between a compatible sensing edge and a fixed operator, controller, interface module, or junction box.
Will C182-24B work with all Miller Edge sensing edges?
No. It is for applications that require a 2-conductor cord with 24 ft. expanded. The edge configuration, monitoring method, operator input, and jacket requirement must match the original installation.
Can C182-24B be used on monitored safety edge circuits?
It may be used on select 2-wire monitored edge circuits such as resistor or diode-capacitor configurations when the Miller Edge/operator wiring diagram allows a 2-conductor coil cord.
Can I use a different C182 length instead of C182-24B?
A different C182 length may be acceptable only when the conductor count, jacket style, cord travel, door or gate movement, and terminal layout all fit the installation without stretching or dragging the cord.
What is the main ordering risk with C182-24B?
The main risk is matching only the wire count while missing the expanded length, jacket type, monitoring configuration, or existing part number. Compare the original cord marking and parts diagram before replacement.
