Miller Edge PS20K500-12 12 ft Pneumatic Edge Switch Kit Technical Details
The Miller Edge PS20K500-12 is a 12 ft PS20A pneumatic edge switch kit for non-monitored pressure-hose safety edge systems. In this style of installation, compression of the hose forces air into the PS20A diaphragm switch, changing the electrical contact state so the operator can stop or reverse. This kit is commonly used on pneumatic configured sensing edges and treadles for commercial doors and select gate applications. Proper selection depends on hose length, whether a coil cord is required, the original switch style, and whether the operator still accepts a non-monitored edge input.
Compatibility and Application Notes
- Compatible with Miller Edge pneumatic configured sensing edges and pneumatic configured treadles that use air pressure tubing to actuate a PS20A pneumatic switch.
- May be used with select commercial door operators and automated gate operators that accept a non-monitored 2-wire safety edge / reversing edge contact input, when permitted by the operator manual.
- Commonly associated with PS20A pneumatic switch installations using RAH-500 1/2 in. gum rubber hose, HH-500 hard rubber hose, P-50 end plugs, and related pneumatic edge components.
- Related kit family includes PS20K500-12, PS20K500-12C, PS20K500-18, and PS20K500-18C. Match the hose length and coil-cord requirement before ordering.
- This version does not include the 12 ft coil cord and is intended for layouts where a coil cord is not required or is supplied separately.
- Not a monitored electric sensing edge interface and not a substitute for a required monitored UL325 safety input.
- Not the same product family as AW14 Air-Wave kits or wireless pneumatic products. Match the original switch body and system layout.

Technician Note
A PS20K500 kit should be matched to the existing pneumatic switch system, not only to the hose diameter. Check the switch body, terminal layout, N.O. / N.C. wiring, edge length, and whether the installation requires a coil cord before ordering.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the existing system uses a PS20A pneumatic pressure switch and not an AW14 Air-Wave switch or monitored electric edge.
- Match the hose length to the edge or treadle run and do not exceed the supported edge length for the switch system.
- Choose the C version only when the installation requires the included 12 ft coil cord.
- Verify the operator input and whether the circuit should be wired N.O. or N.C. before reconnecting the switch.
- Inspect the old hose, end plugs, fittings, and switch diaphragm for air leaks before assuming the switch alone caused the issue.
Professional Advisory
Pneumatic safety edge systems must be tested after installation to confirm stop/reverse operation. Do not bypass the edge input to make an operator run. If the equipment requires monitored entrapment protection, or if the door or gate moves unsafely, use a qualified technician for diagnosis and code-compliant repair.
Product Questions and Answers
What is included with the Miller Edge PS20K500-12 kit?
This 12 ft PS20K500 kit includes the PS20A pneumatic switch, 1/2 in. RAH-500 gum rubber hose, 4 in. HH-500 hard rubber hose, end plugs, and wire nuts. This version does not include a coil cord.
Is PS20K500-12 a monitored safety edge product?
No. This is a non-monitored pneumatic pressure switch kit. It should only be used where the door or gate operator supports a non-monitored pneumatic edge input.
Can PS20K500-12 be wired normally open or normally closed?
The PS20A switch family provides N.O. and N.C. contact options. Match the wiring to the operator input requirements and test the stop/reverse function after service.
What is the difference between PS20K500-12 and the C version?
The C suffix means the kit includes a 12 ft coil cord. Non-C kits are supplied without that coil cord and are used where the installation does not require it.
Can this replace an AW14K500 Air-Wave kit?
Do not assume it can. PS20K500 kits and AW14K500 Air-Wave kits are different switch systems. Verify the original switch type, hose layout, and operator input before substituting parts.
