SECO-LARM Enforcer E-960-D90GQ Twin Photobeam Detectors with Laser Beam Alignment 90ft (30m) outdoors, 190ft (60m) indoors
The SECO-LARM ENFORCER E-960-D90GQ is a long-range twin infrared photobeam detector used where a driveway, gate opening, perimeter line, or protected approach needs a through-beam style detection point. This style uses a separate transmitter and receiver instead of a reflector, so both sides of the opening must be mounted securely and aimed across the protected path. The built-in laser alignment feature helps the installer get the two heads lined up before final adjustment, which is especially useful on longer gate entrances where small alignment errors can cause nuisance trips. The E-960-D90GQ is listed for up to 90 ft (30 m) outdoors and up to 190 ft (60 m) indoors, but real-world range depends on mounting height, sunlight angle, vibration, fog, landscaping, and how clean the lenses stay. For gate automation, this product is best treated as a detection or safety-related sensor only when the operator input and current safety standard requirements match the sensor output and monitoring style.
Compatible With
Common Applications
- Residential, commercial, and industrial driveway gate entrances where a through-beam photoelectric sensor is appropriate
- Outdoor perimeter detection across fence lines, parking entrances, vehicle lanes, and access-control approaches
- Indoor warehouse, equipment, and doorway sensing applications that fall within the rated indoor range
- Gate operator control boards with dry-contact photo eye, safety, open, close, or auxiliary inputs when the required monitoring method is supported
- Security and alarm panels that accept relay-type beam detector inputs
SECO-LARM Twin Photobeam Family
- E-960-D90Q - 90 ft outdoor / 190 ft indoor standard twin photobeam
- E-960-D190Q - 190 ft outdoor / 390 ft indoor standard twin photobeam
- E-960-D290Q - 290 ft outdoor / 590 ft indoor standard twin photobeam
- E-960-D390Q / E-964-D390Q - 390 ft outdoor / 790 ft indoor long range photobeam reference
- E-960-D90GQ - 90 ft outdoor / 190 ft indoor ETL UL325 monitored twin photobeam version
Compatibility Notes
- Use only with operators and controllers that match the sensor voltage, relay/contact output, and required monitoring method
- For UL325 entrapment protection on modern gate operators, verify whether the installed operator requires monitored photo eyes and whether this exact model is accepted
- Do not substitute a standard DQ model for a GQ monitored model unless the operator manual specifically allows it
- Longer range models may solve distance issues, but they still require stable posts, clear line of sight, and correct alignment

Technician Note
Mount both heads on rigid posts or walls before final alignment. A gate photo beam that is slightly loose can work during testing and fail later from vibration, wind, or a vehicle bumping the post. Clean the lenses, verify the relay state at the board, and confirm that the operator responds correctly before leaving the site.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Do not bypass a photo eye or safety input to force a gate to run.
- Standard and monitored versions may look similar but are not always accepted by the same gate operator.
- Range ratings assume clean lenses, clear line of sight, and proper alignment; outdoor conditions can reduce usable distance.
- This GQ version is the monitored/ETL UL325 style reference; do not replace it with a non-monitored DQ model unless the operator manual allows it.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the exact part number on the sensor housing or packaging.
- Measure the opening and choose a model with enough outdoor range for the actual installed distance.
- Confirm the operator board voltage and the required input type before wiring.
- Check whether the gate operator requires monitored UL325 photo eyes.
- Plan mounting height and post placement so the beam is not blocked by plants, curbs, wheel stops, or gate movement.
Professional Advisory
Photo eye wiring and safety-device setup should be handled by a qualified gate technician when the operator has monitored safety inputs, high-voltage wiring nearby, or a history of unsafe movement. The sensor must stop or reverse the gate the way the operator manufacturer requires.
Product Questions & Answers
Is the E-960-D90GQ used with gates or alarm systems?
The E-960-D90GQ may be used in gate, access-control, perimeter, or alarm-style applications when the control input, voltage, relay output, and monitoring requirement match the installation.
What is the difference between outdoor and indoor range?
The outdoor range is up to 90 ft (30 m), while the indoor range is up to 190 ft (60 m). Outdoor sunlight, fog, rain, vibration, and dirty lenses can reduce usable range.
Does this replace every SECO-LARM E-960 photobeam?
No. The E-960 family includes different range ratings and monitored/non-monitored versions. Match the exact model number and the operator requirements before replacing one.
Can I use this as a gate safety photo eye?
Only when the gate operator accepts this exact sensor type and monitoring method. Modern UL325 operators may require monitored safety devices.
Why does alignment matter so much on this sensor?
A through-beam sensor depends on the transmitter and receiver seeing each other cleanly. Poor alignment can cause false trips, intermittent gate stops, or a sensor that works only in certain weather.
