What is the difference between reflective and thru-beam photo eyes?

10K and 8.2K refer to resistance values used by some monitored safety inputs. The operator control board may look for a specific resistance value to confirm the safety device is connected and working. Match the resistor value to the operator requirements.

Why does my gate still show a safety fault after replacing the photo eye?

The issue may be wiring, alignment, input programming, wrong sensor type, incorrect resistor value, power loss, sun glare, water intrusion, damaged conduit, or a control board setting. Replacing the sensor will not fix the problem if the operator input or wiring is wrong.

Can sunlight, rain, fog, insects, or vegetation cause false photo-eye problems?

Yes. Direct sunlight, heavy rain, fog, condensation, insects, spider webs, leaves, grass, and moving branches can interrupt or weaken the beam. Check the beam path, lens condition, alignment, and mounting stability before replacing the sensor.

Can I bypass a safety sensor to make the gate or door close?
