Are Transmitter Solutions proximity readers standalone devices?

What does 125 kHz mean on a proximity reader?

125 kHz refers to a common low-frequency proximity credential technology used by many card and fob systems. However, 125 kHz alone does not guarantee compatibility. The reader must also match the credential format and controller requirements.

What is Wiegand output on a card reader?

Wiegand output is a common reader-to-controller wiring format used to send card or fob data to an access-control panel. The panel must support the reader output and be programmed for the correct credential format.

What is the difference between a mullion reader and a single-gang reader?

When should I choose a reader/keypad combination?

Are HID and AWID proximity credentials interchangeable?

Can I replace an old proximity reader without changing the access-control panel?

Yes, in some cases, but the replacement reader must match the panel input, wiring, credential format, voltage, mounting style, and output format. If the credentials or panel format do not match, the new reader may power up but fail to read or authorize cards.

Why does my new proximity reader power on but not read cards?

Do proximity readers replace gate safety devices?

No. A proximity reader is an access-control device. It does not replace monitored photo eyes, safety edges, loop detectors, garage safety sensors, request-to-exit devices, or other safety equipment required for the gate, door, or operator.
