Universal DC Travel Module for LiftMaster Openers
The LiftMaster 041D8071-4 travel module is used on compatible DC motor garage door openers to help the control system read travel movement. It works with the opener's motor and logic board so the unit can learn where the door should stop at the fully open and fully closed positions.
A failing travel module can cause travel programming trouble, limit learn failures, unexpected stopping, repeated travel errors, or movement problems that remain after the door, rail, belt, chain, and force settings have been checked. Because travel problems can also be caused by a binding door, damaged rail parts, bad motor, bad logic board, or wiring problem, diagnosis should not be based on symptoms alone.
This kit is for supported DC chain drive and DC belt drive openers. It should not be confused with AC travel module kits, model-specific motor assemblies, or wall mount RJO travel components.
Compatible With
- LiftMaster 8160, 8160W, 8160WB, 81600, and 81602 DC chain drive opener applications where 041D8071-4 is listed
- LiftMaster 8360W, 8360WLB, 8550, 8550W, 8550WLB, 85503, 85503-267, WLED, and related DC belt/chain Wi-Fi opener families when confirmed by parts diagram
- LiftMaster 84501, 84504R, 84505R, 84602, 87504-267, 87802, and related current DC smart opener references where supported

Technician Note
After replacing a travel module, expect to reset or relearn travel limits. If the opener still will not learn travel, inspect the door balance, rail, motor, wiring, and logic board before replacing additional parts.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the opener is a DC chain or belt drive model.
- Match the opener parts diagram to 041D8071-4, 41A7114-7, or 041A7114-7.
- Check the door balance and rail movement before blaming the module.
- Inspect the travel module harness and connector for damage.
- Be prepared to reprogram travel and force settings after service.
Professional Advisory
Do not defeat safety sensors or force the opener through travel programming with a binding door. If the door reverses, jams, or moves unpredictably, stop and have the door/operator system inspected.
Product Questions & Answers
What does the 041D8071-4 travel module do?
It provides travel position feedback on compatible DC garage door openers so the opener can learn and control the open and close limits.
Is 041D8071-4 the same as 41A7114-7?
41A7114-7 and 041A7114-7 are related references commonly associated with the 041D8071-4 universal DC travel module kit.
Will this fit an AC opener?
No. This kit is for select DC chain and belt drive openers. AC opener travel modules are different.
Do I need to reset limits after installation?
Yes, travel limits and force settings commonly need to be reprogrammed after replacing a travel module.
Can a bad travel module cause limit programming problems?
Yes, but door balance, rail binding, motor issues, wiring problems, and logic board faults can cause similar symptoms.
