The LiftMaster 501012 exterior air switch is used with compatible pneumatic sensing edge systems. It receives air pressure from the edge hose and changes switch state when the edge is compressed.
This is a switch component, not a full edge kit. It should be matched to the pneumatic edge, hose, wiring type, and operator control circuit.

A pneumatic edge depends on the edge, hose, plug, and air switch all sealing and responding properly. Replacing the switch will not correct a cut hose, leaking plug, or damaged edge.
Do not bypass an air switch or safety edge to keep a door running. If the edge circuit is not working, the operator should be serviced before normal operation continues.
It converts air pressure from a pneumatic sensing edge into an electrical switch signal for the operator control circuit.
No. The 501012 is the exterior SPDT air switch only. The edge, hose, plug, coil cord, or take-up reel are separate components.
A leaking or kinked hose may prevent pressure from reaching the air switch, even if the switch itself is good.
It is supplied in an exterior plastic housing, but it should still be installed according to the operator and edge system instructions.
Stop using the door in automatic mode and have the pneumatic edge, switch wiring, and operator control circuit checked by a qualified technician.
