AWID XP-3620-GR-0 UHF Switchplate-Type Reader, Gray
The AWID XP-3620-GR-0 is a UHF switchplate-type reader designed for pedestrian access points that are part of an AWID UHF system. It gives a property a way to use the same UHF credential family at a walk-up door or turnstile that may also be used at long-range vehicle gate readers.
This reader is most useful where a short read zone is preferred. At a busy pedestrian entrance, a controlled near-field read helps the system read the card or tag being intentionally presented instead of picking up credentials from too far away. The XP-3620 should be matched to AWID UHF credentials and a compatible access-control panel interface.
Compatible With
Use with select AWID UHF access systems where a switchplate-style near-field reader is required.
- AWID uAxcess UHF credential family when ordered in the correct format
- AWID LR-2000, LR-2200, LR-3000 and related long-range UHF reader systems when the credential and reader frequency version match
- AWID HiLo long-range and near-field UHF installations where the same UHF credentials are used for vehicle gates and pedestrian doors
- Access-control panels accepting Wiegand data from compatible AWID UHF readers
- Parking facilities, gated communities, perimeter gates, building entries and mixed vehicle/pedestrian access sites using AWID UHF credentials
- AWID XP-3620 / XP3620 near-field UHF reader applications
- Door, turnstile and pedestrian-gate locations needing a short UHF read range

Technician Note
For pedestrian locations, mount height, nearby metal, cable type, grounding, credential orientation and reader spacing can all affect performance. Do not assume a long-range vehicle-reader credential will behave the same at a doorway unless the reader family and output format match.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the reader model and frequency region before ordering.
- Match the access-control panel interface, usually Wiegand and/or OSDP depending on the reader.
- Confirm the credential type used at the site: clamshell card, graphics card, key tag, windshield tag, metal-mount tag, or other UHF credential.
- Check mounting location, expected read range, cable path, and environmental conditions.
- Review the access-control database and credential format before adding or replacing readers.
Important Ordering Warnings
Do not mix AWID 125 kHz proximity credentials with this AWID UHF reader. XP-3620 is part of the UHF access reader family and requires compatible UHF credentials.
Professional Advisory
For new reader wiring, panel programming, access-control database changes, or uncertain site conditions, use a qualified access-control or gate technician. Do not bypass security controls or safety equipment to make a credential or reader appear to work.
Product Questions & Answers
Where is the XP-3620 normally used?
It is normally used at pedestrian doors, turnstiles, gate walk-through points, and other access points where AWID UHF credentials need a short read range.
Does it use the same cards as AWID long-range readers?
It is commonly associated with AWID UHF credentials used with LR-2000, LR-2200, LR-3000 and HiLo-style systems, but the credential format and frequency version must match.
Is this a keypad reader?
No. XP-3620 is the switchplate-style UHF reader without the integrated keypad. For the similar AWID reader/keypad version, check XK-3640-GR-0.
Can this replace an AWID 125 kHz prox reader?
Not directly. It uses AWID UHF credentials, so replacing a 125 kHz prox reader would also involve credential and system review.
What causes short read range complaints?
Common causes include wrong credential type, metal near the reader, poor grounding, bad cable, incorrect voltage, damaged reader, or reader placement that does not match how users present credentials.
