BASE LD-1500 Low-Voltage Low Power Deflectometer Inductive Loop Vehicle Detector
The BASE LD-1500 is a low-voltage low power DEFLECTOMETER inductive loop vehicle detector built for vehicle detection in automated gate, parking, barrier-arm, and access-control work. The detector connects to an inductive loop installed in the pavement and changes relay state when a vehicle enters the loop field. In a gate system, that signal may be used for free exit, safety/reverse protection, shadow loop hold-open, arming a keypad or reader, preventing a barrier arm from lowering on a vehicle, or supporting parking-control logic. The LD-1500 is the low-power choice in this group and is commonly selected for solar, battery-supported, or low-current gate systems where standard detector current draw is a concern. It still provides the diagnostic features installers expect from the DEFLECTOMETER series. The important ordering point is that loop detectors are not selected by connector shape alone. The supply voltage, fail-safe or fail-secure output behavior, relay function, loop condition, and controller wiring all have to match the job. A similar-looking low-voltage, high-voltage, or S-series detector may not behave the same when power is removed or when a loop fault occurs.
Compatible With
This item is commonly used with the following applications when the voltage, wiring, relay function, and site configuration match:
- 12 VDC, 24 VDC, or 24 VAC low-voltage power gate, barrier gate, parking, overhead door, access-control, and vehicle-detection installations that accept an external 11-pin inductive loop detector
- saw-cut loops, preformed loops, direct-burial loops, loop extension cable, and properly twisted loop lead-in wiring within the detector inductance range
- single-loop applications such as exit, safety/reverse, shadow, arming, hold-open, free-exit, and presence detection
- fail safe control circuits when the site safety design calls for that relay behavior
- 11-pin detector sockets, 11-pin plug-in detector bases, and harnesses such as BASE LMH6-11 where the pinout and operator wiring match
- solar and battery-supported gate systems that require a low-current low-voltage loop detector
- low-power gate operator installations, including solar gate operators, where a 12/24V style external loop detector is specified

Technician Note
Most loop detector trouble calls are caused by loop or lead-in problems, wrong voltage, a wrong relay contact, or replacing a fail-safe model with a fail-secure model. Confirm the field wiring before assuming the detector is the only failed part.
Before Ordering
- Verify the exact part number on the existing detector or project parts list.
- Confirm low-voltage versus high-voltage power before applying power.
- Confirm fail-safe or fail-secure relay behavior required by the operator.
- Check the loop and lead-in cable for opens, shorts, damaged insulation, or wet splices.
- Confirm the 11-pin socket or harness pinout and relay contact wiring.
- Do not bypass required safety devices or leave a gate operating unsafely after detector replacement.
Professional Advisory
Loop detector wiring can involve gate operator control circuits and, on some models, line voltage. If the power source, relay behavior, or safety function is unclear, have the system checked by a qualified gate or access-control technician.
Product Q&A
What is the BASE LD-1500 used for?
The BASE LD-1500 is used with an inductive roadway loop to detect vehicles for gate, barrier, parking, access-control, and similar operator control applications.
Will the BASE LD-1500 work with any gate operator?
It may be used with many gate and access-control systems that accept an external 11-pin loop detector, but the voltage, relay output, fail mode, and pinout must match the operator wiring.
What voltage does the BASE LD-1500 require?
This model is intended for 12 VDC, 24 VDC, or 24 VAC low-voltage power. Do not substitute a low-voltage and high-voltage version without checking the operator power source and wiring diagram.
Can the BASE LD-1500 replace a high-voltage detector?
No, not unless the control cabinet is wired for the low-voltage detector version. Match the original detector label and power supply before ordering.
What does the DEFLECTOMETER help with?
The DEFLECTOMETER display helps the installer view loop response, set sensitivity, read loop frequency, and troubleshoot faults more clearly than a basic LED-only detector.
Can this detector be used for safety loops?
Yes, it may be used for safety or reverse loop functions when installed and wired correctly. Never bypass monitored safety devices or rely on a detector to cover an unsafe gate condition.
