The Genie 27251A.S is an OEM polymer thrust washer designed for Genie ProMax PMX 500-IC/B and IC250/B residential garage door openers. Manufactured from engineered polymer material, this washer seats at the motor shaft end to absorb axial thrust loads and provide smooth, low-friction motor seating within the drive mechanism. The poly construction offers self-lubricating properties that reduce noise and friction during normal cycling. As a direct OEM replacement part, it restores factory motor positioning for reliable open and close travel.
A: GE-27251A.S uses a polymer material suited for the PMX 500-IC/B and IC250/B series, while GE-27087A.S is a metal washer for the Chain Glide series. They are not interchangeable.
A: No. GE-27251A.S is not confirmed to supersede GE-27087A.S. Each is designed for its own specific model family.
A: The polymer thrust washer absorbs axial motor loads and helps secure the motor assembly while reducing noise and vibration in compatible models.
A: Check for cracking, deformation, or unusual motor noise and vibration during door travel, which can indicate washer wear or failure.
A: Verify your model number matches PMX 500-IC/B or IC250/B before ordering, as the polymer washer is not cross-compatible with Chain Glide or other series.
