The Genie 39153R.S is a genuine OEM replacement optical encoder rpm sensor designed for Genie garage door opener systems. It is a optical rpm encoder sensor for ac screw drive that restores full function to your opener. Key attributes include Measures motor RPM via optical interruption from encoder wheel fins and Snaps onto motor shaft - fins must face encoder sensor. This part is compatible with Genie 2562, Genie 2564, Genie 2568, and additional specified models.
A: The optical encoder wheel snaps onto the motor shaft with the fins facing the encoder sensor. The sensor reads each fin as it passes to calculate RPM and monitor position.
A: It is designed specifically for Genie AC screw drive models 2562, 2564, 2568, PowerLift, and GPower 900. It is not confirmed for use on DC or chain/belt drive models.
A: Short travel, drifting limits, or an opener that reverses prematurely can indicate a failed optical RPM sensor. The board uses RPM data to set and track travel limits.
A: The 37958R.S is a related assembly kit that includes the opto-luctor wheel bracket and mounting screw. The 39153R.S is the sensor itself. Both may be needed for a full repair.
A: Yes, replacing the optical encoder sensor and ensuring the encoder wheel fins are clean and properly aligned will resolve RPM-related limit drift or short-travel issues.
