LiftMaster 971LM 390 MHz Security+ Remote for 139.53667
The LiftMaster 971LM is a one-button 390 MHz Security+ remote control for compatible residential garage door openers and radio receivers. This listing is written for 139.53667 and related Sears Craftsman, Chamberlain, LiftMaster, and Raynor openers that use red/orange learn button Security+ technology. The remote sends a rolling-code signal to the opener, which helps prevent code grabbing and makes it different from older fixed-code DIP switch remotes.
The 971LM is typically used when replacing a lost, broken, or worn single-button remote on a compatible 390 MHz Security+ opener. It is best matched by learn button color and receiver technology. A red or orange learn button usually points to the 390 MHz Security+ family, while purple learn buttons use 315 MHz Security+ remotes and yellow learn buttons use Security+ 2.0 remotes. This distinction is important because many Sears Craftsman and LiftMaster remotes look similar but are not interchangeable.

Technician Note
The easiest field check is the learn button color. Red or orange usually indicates a compatible 390 MHz Security+ system. If the opener uses external receivers or older Craftsman labeling, open the receiver cover and confirm the model before ordering.
Before Ordering, Confirm
- The opener or receiver uses Security+ 390 MHz technology.
- The learn button is red or orange on compatible equipment.
- The old remote is in the 971LM / 970LM / 973LM Security+ family, or the opener manual lists compatible 390 MHz Security+ remotes.
- The customer only needs one-button control.
- The system is not fixed-code DIP, 315 MHz purple learn button, or Security+ 2.0 yellow learn button.
Professional Advisory
Program the remote with the garage door in view and test the safety reversal system after programming. A remote should not be used to operate a door with damaged sections, broken springs, missing safety sensors, or unsafe travel.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Do not confuse 971LM with 61LM fixed-code remotes.
- Do not use 971LM on purple learn button 315 MHz systems.
- Do not use 971LM on yellow learn button Security+ 2.0 systems.
- Sears Craftsman model numbers can be close; match the learn button and radio technology.
