Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the purpose of the 2200-964 gate plate spacer?
A: The spacer positions the gate plate tube at the correct height relative to the operator, maintaining the required 24-7/8-inch distance between the top of the operator pad and the gate plate mounting point for proper arm geometry.
Q: What is the correct gate plate mounting height for SWR/SWC/SWD operators?
A: The installation manual for the SWR/SWC/SWD operators states the gate plate should be mounted 24-7/8 inches above the top surface of the operator pad. The spacer helps achieve this dimension.
Q: Can the gate plate be welded or must it be bolted?
A: According to Linear installation documentation, the gate plate can be either welded or bolted to the gate, depending on the gate construction and installer preference. Welding provides a more permanent connection while bolting allows future adjustment.
Q: What should I inspect on the gate plate spacer during routine maintenance?
A: Check the spacer and gate plate for corrosion, physical damage, loose fasteners, and proper alignment. Misalignment of the gate plate spacer can cause binding or uneven stress on the operator arm and pivot hardware.
Q: What problems can result from an improperly installed gate plate spacer?
A: An incorrectly positioned gate plate spacer can cause the operator arm to bind at the extremes of travel, place side-load stress on the operator output shaft, and result in erratic gate movement or premature mechanical wear.
