Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the Linear 2400-506 and where is it used?
A: Part 2400-506 is a Grade 8 flat washer with a 1/2 inch nominal bore, finished in yellow zinc-chromate coating, used in the structural fastener assemblies of Linear OSCO gate operators.
Q: What does Grade 8 mean for this washer?
A: Grade 8 is the highest common SAE grade for inch-series fasteners, indicating high tensile strength. It is used in high-stress structural joints where standard Grade 5 or Grade 2 hardware would be insufficient.
Q: Why is the washer coated in yellow zinc-chromate?
A: The yellow zinc-chromate finish provides corrosion resistance for outdoor gate operator installations, helping the hardware withstand moisture, UV exposure, and environmental contamination.
Q: Can I substitute a standard flat washer for the 2400-506?
A: While dimensionally similar washers may be available, replacing with a lower-grade washer in a high-load joint could lead to fastener loosening, joint failure, or structural damage to the operator. Use OEM Grade 8 hardware.
Q: What fasteners does the 2400-506 pair with?
A: The 2400-506 pairs with compatible 1/2-13 fasteners such as the 2400-507 nylon insert lock nut and 2400-512 hex head cap screw in Linear gate operator structural assemblies.
