Linear 2500-1883-PROBE, Probe Detector 150Ft, Lead
The Linear 2500-1883-PROBE is the probe/lead portion of a vehicle detection setup used with compatible Linear / OSCO gate operator and access-control installations. The 150 ft lead gives installers more reach from the buried probe location back to the operator cabinet or detector connection point.
Vehicle probe systems are normally used to sense the metal mass of a vehicle in a driveway or lane. When installed and wired correctly, the system can send an open, hold-open, or presence signal to the gate controller. It is a useful accessory for automatic gate convenience, but it does not replace required UL 325 monitored entrapment protection.
Because buried probes are application-sensitive, the replacement should be matched to the original probe detector part number, lead length, supply voltage, and controller wiring. A 150 ft lead version should not be confused with the shorter 50 ft versions or with different 24 VDC probe detector families.
Compatible With
This item is commonly associated with the following Linear / OSCO parts, operators, or applications. Confirm the original part number, operator model, voltage, and parts diagram before ordering.
- Linear 2500-1883 vehicle probe detector systems
- 24 VAC probe-type vehicle detector applications using a 150 ft lead
- Select Linear / OSCO automatic gate operators with compatible vehicle detector inputs
- Driveway free-exit or vehicle presence detection applications
- Access-control systems where a vehicle probe is specified by the system design
- Replacement work where the original probe/lead is marked 2500-1883 or 2500-1883-PROBE

Technician Note
Probe detectors are for vehicle detection, not pedestrian protection or entrapment protection. If the gate is missing monitored photo eyes or safety edges, correct the safety system before relying on vehicle detection accessories.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the existing system uses the 150 ft lead version.
- Confirm the detector voltage and wiring are 24 VAC compatible.
- Do not replace a monitored safety sensor with this probe.
- Check the buried probe route for wire damage before replacing only the detector module.
- Verify the operator has the correct input for the intended free-exit or presence function.
Professional Advisory
Buried probe installation and troubleshooting should be performed by a qualified gate technician when conduit, pavement cuts, buried wiring, or operator cabinet wiring are involved.
Product Q&A
Is this a gate safety sensor?
No. This is a vehicle detection probe and should not be used as a monitored reversing safety device.
What lead length is this probe associated with?
This item is associated with the 150 ft lead version of the Linear 2500-1883 probe detector family.
Can it be used for free-exit?
It may be used for free-exit or presence detection when wired to a compatible gate operator input and installed correctly.
Is it the same as 2500-1928?
No. 2500-1928 is commonly listed as a 24 VAC probe detector with a 50 ft lead, so the lead length/application should be checked.
What should I verify before ordering?
Verify the original part number, lead length, voltage, and whether you need the probe/lead only or a complete detector setup.
