Marantec 78236, Modular Receiver M5-831 for Me (EOS) operator 315MHz
The Marantec 78236 M5-831 receiver is a model-specific radio module for certain M-Line EOS opener heads. The receiver is responsible for accepting radio commands from compatible 315 MHz Marantec remote controls. It is most often considered when the garage door opener runs normally from the wall control but no longer responds to remotes after batteries, programming, and transmitter condition have been checked. This receiver is more limited than the broader Synergy receiver family. Public parts references identify M5-831-II / 78236 with M4500e, M4700e, and M4900e applications, so it should not be ordered as a universal Marantec receiver. If the opener is a Synergy model, a 916 MHz system, or an older 40 MHz Mac-Lift unit, a different receiver part may be required.

Technician Note
Match this Marantec part by the model label, original part number, rail type, frequency, or parts diagram before ordering. Marantec used similar-looking parts across several generations, and small differences in receiver frequency, housing shape, rail style, or sensor hardware can prevent a proper repair.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the Marantec model number on the opener head or parts diagram.
- Compare the original part number to the number shown on this product page.
- For rail parts, confirm chain versus belt rail and standard versus heavy-duty rail.
- For receivers, confirm the operating frequency and remote family before ordering.
- For photo eye parts, repair the safety system properly and never bypass required sensors.
Professional Advisory
Garage door openers can involve spring-loaded doors, moving drive systems, low-voltage safety circuits, and internal electrical parts. If the repair involves power diagnosis, failed safety devices, a door that will not balance, or an opener that moves unpredictably, have a qualified garage door technician inspect the system before returning it to service.
Product Questions and Answers
Which openers commonly use Marantec 78236?
It is commonly associated with M4500e, M4700e, and M4900e opener references using the M5-831 receiver.
Is this a Synergy receiver?
No. Synergy models commonly use different receiver references such as 122667 or 158750 depending on frequency.
Will this work with 916 MHz remotes?
No. This is a 315 MHz receiver module and must be matched to compatible 315 MHz Marantec transmitters.
Does this include remotes?
No. This product is the receiver module unless the listing specifically states a bundle.
What should I check if remotes still do not work?
Check transmitter battery, programming, opener lockout settings, antenna condition, and whether the opener responds from the wall control.
