AES MOD-MULTI-PX-KP, Assembled Data Keypad and 125KHz Prox Module for Multi Apartment Systems (Classic & Multi Button)
The AES MOD-MULTI-PX-KP is an assembled data keypad and 125 kHz proximity reader module for select AES Global multi-apartment and multi-button modular intercom systems. It combines keypad entry and prox credential access in one module, making it useful for apartment buildings, gated communities, commercial entrances, and multi-tenant access-control stations where both PIN and card/fob access are required.
This module is commonly associated with AES MultiCOM Classic and modular multi-button systems. It should be selected by part number, AES system series, panel layout, wiring requirements, and credential type. It is not a complete intercom system by itself.
What This Keypad and Prox Module Does
The MOD-MULTI-PX-KP adds keypad and proximity-reader functionality to compatible AES multi-apartment access-control systems. Depending on the system configuration, users may be able to enter a PIN code, present a compatible 125 kHz prox card or fob, or use the module as part of a controlled gate, door, lobby, or building-entry setup.
In most installations, the main AES intercom or access-control electronics manage resident directories, call routing, relay outputs, user programming, time schedules, and access permissions. The MOD-MULTI-PX-KP is the front-panel module used for keypad and prox credential input.
Compatible With
This keypad and prox module may be used with the following applications where the current AES documentation, panel layout, or installer plan confirms fitment:
- Select AES MultiCOM Classic multi-apartment GSM intercom systems
- Select AES multi-button modular apartment intercom systems
- AES modular multi-family access-control panels that support the MOD-MULTI-PX-KP module
- Classic and multi-button AES panel configurations requiring a combined keypad and 125 kHz prox reader
- Gate, door, lobby, building, and community-entry systems requiring both PIN entry and prox credential access
- Repairs or upgrades where the original module is marked, listed, or cross-referenced as MOD-MULTI-PX-KP
Important: Do not assume this module works with every AES intercom, every Prime Edge panel, or every access-control system. Confirm the exact AES model, module bay, wiring connection, software/app support, credential type, and panel layout before ordering.
Credential and Frequency Compatibility
The provided product description identifies this as a 125 kHz prox module. That frequency matters. A 125 kHz prox reader is not the same as a 13.56 MHz smart-card reader, MIFARE reader, DESFire reader, Bluetooth credential reader, or mobile-credential reader.
If the property already has prox cards or fobs, confirm the credential technology before ordering. Matching the 125 kHz frequency alone may not guarantee compatibility if the card format, facility code, card number format, or AES programming requirements do not match the system.
Similar Parts That Are Not Interchangeable
AES modular parts can look similar from the front of the panel. Keypad-only modules, prox-only modules, combined keypad/prox modules, Prime modules, speaker modules, call-button modules, and blank modules serve different functions and should not be substituted without checking the AES parts documentation.
| Part / Component | Common Description | Interchangeability Note |
| MOD-MULTI-PX-KP | Combined data keypad and 125 kHz prox module for multi-apartment systems | Use where the AES MultiCOM Classic / multi-button modular system calls for this module |
| MOD-MULTI-KP | Multi-button keypad module | Keypad-only module; not the same as the combined keypad/prox version |
| MOD-PRIME-PX-KP | Prime keypad and prox module | Related AES combined module, but intended for Prime/Prime Edge configurations, not automatically interchangeable |
| MOD-PRIME-KP | Prime keypad module | Prime keypad-only module; not the same multi-apartment keypad/prox module |
| MOD-PRIME-PX | Prime prox module | Prime prox-only module; not the same as the combined multi-apartment module |
Not Intended For
- Use as a complete intercom, GSM/cellular entry system, controller, or stand-alone access-control panel
- Replacing the main MultiCOM cellular module, SIM hardware, antenna, speaker, microphone, relay board, power supply, or enclosure
- Prime Edge / Prime modular systems unless AES documentation specifically calls for MOD-MULTI-PX-KP
- Sites requiring 13.56 MHz smart-card, MIFARE, DESFire, Bluetooth, or mobile credential support unless the AES system specifically confirms compatibility
- Non-AES panels unless the installer confirms physical, electrical, and software compatibility
- Bypassing gate operator safety inputs, door release protections, fire access requirements, or required access-control safeguards
Important Compatibility Warning
The AES MOD-MULTI-PX-KP should be ordered only when the AES system and panel layout call for the combined data keypad and 125 kHz prox module for a multi-apartment or multi-button system. If the job only needs keypad entry, a keypad-only module may be more appropriate. If the job only needs card/fob access, a prox-only module may be the correct module instead.
For replacement work, match the part number on the existing module when possible. If the property uses existing prox credentials, confirm the credential frequency and format before ordering. A 125 kHz reader will not read 13.56 MHz smart credentials unless the manufacturer specifically supports that credential technology.

Technician Note
Before replacing or adding the MOD-MULTI-PX-KP, confirm how the property manages access. Some multi-apartment sites use keypad codes only, some use prox credentials, and some use both. The module should match the actual access method, resident database, credential format, and AES programming setup.
Do not overlook credential compatibility. A 125 kHz prox module is not the same as a smart-card reader. If the customer already has cards or fobs, verify the credential technology before ordering. If the system is being upgraded for stronger credential security, confirm whether the AES platform supports the desired reader technology before selecting hardware.
Before Ordering, Confirm
- The required part number is MOD-MULTI-PX-KP.
- The system is a compatible AES MultiCOM Classic, Classic, or multi-button modular installation.
- The panel layout accepts the assembled combined data keypad and prox module.
- The site needs both keypad entry and 125 kHz prox credential access.
- The existing cards or fobs are compatible with the 125 kHz prox reader and AES programming requirements.
- The module wiring, 24VDC power requirement where applicable, harness, and controller connection match the AES installation plan.
- The package contents are understood, including whether cards, fobs, mounting hardware, wiring, or instructions are included.

Installation and Service Notes
- Disconnect power before installing or servicing the module.
- Confirm the module position and panel opening before mounting.
- Follow AES wiring instructions for power, communication, and any required module connections.
- Do not force the module into a non-matching panel opening or enclosure.
- Program users, PINs, and credentials according to the AES system instructions.
- Test keypad entry and prox credential entry separately after installation.
- Confirm relay output, gate or door release behavior, access logs where available, time-zone schedules, and apartment/user programming.
- Do not bypass gate safety devices, fire access requirements, door hardware protections, or operator safeguards during access-control testing.
Professional Advisory
The AES MOD-MULTI-PX-KP should be installed by a qualified access-control or gate technician familiar with AES MultiCOM Classic / multi-button modular systems, low-voltage wiring, credential programming, gate operator inputs, door release circuits, and multi-tenant access requirements.
For gated communities, apartment buildings, commercial properties, and building entry systems, confirm the full access sequence before putting the system into service. PIN entry, prox access, postal access, fire access, resident access, visitor calling, time schedules, and gate or door release functions should all be tested without bypassing required safety or security devices.
