BEA 10LZRS600 LZR-S600 Laser Scanner for Automation and Security
The BEA 10LZRS600 LZR-S600 is a high-precision laser scanner designed for applications that need configurable object detection over a larger area. It uses Time-of-Flight measurement and multiple laser curtains to form a three-dimensional detection zone, which can be useful around large industrial doors, automation zones, perimeter areas, vehicle approaches, or security-controlled openings. In the field, this type of sensor is chosen when a simple motion detector, photoeye, or loop detector does not provide the desired coverage pattern. Correct application review is important because the LZR-S600 must be mounted, aimed, programmed, powered, and wired to equipment that can use its outputs. It should be selected as part of an overall system design, not as a blind replacement for a required safety device.
BEA’s LZR®-S600 is a LASER-based Time-of-Flight sensor. This
high precision technology ensures accurate detection. The
product configuration provides four LASER-based curtains
offering a three dimensional presence detection zone.
BEA’s LZR®-S600 represents the largest detection field offered
in our LASER Time-of-Flight product portfolio. This sensor is
ideal for perimeter security protection, industrial automation
and large industrial door / gate applications that require a wide
field of detection.
The LZR®-S600 is housed in an IP65 rated enclosure and can
be installed in outdoor, industrial and other harsh environments.
Three visible LED spots provide accurate reference points when
adjusting the tilt angle. Parameter adjustments can be made
with a BEA universal remote control.

Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the application requires an LZR-S600, not WIDESCAN, U920, U921, or a photoeye
- Review detection field size and mounting geometry
- Confirm controller input type and power requirements
- Check environmental exposure and mounting hardware
- Verify whether additional monitored photoeyes, edges, or loops are still required
Important Ordering Warnings
- Not a universal replacement for gate photoeyes or loop detectors
- Not interchangeable with U920/U921 raw-data scanners
- Programming and field setup are required
Professional Advisory
Laser scanners and industrial door/gate detection devices should be installed and configured by trained personnel. Do not use a scanner to bypass required monitored safety devices.
Product Questions and Answers
What is the BEA 10LZRS600 used for?
It is a laser Time-of-Flight scanner used for large-area object detection in building automation, industrial door, barrier, gate, perimeter, or security-style applications where the control system can use its outputs.
Is the S600 a direct replacement for a loop detector?
Not automatically. It may be used as an alternative detection technology in certain applications, but loop detector, safety, and access-control requirements must be reviewed for the specific site.
What is the difference between S600 and U920/U921?
S600 is commonly used as a configurable three-dimensional presence/object detection scanner. U920 and U921 are raw-data laser measurement devices intended for systems that process measurement data.
Can this be used as a monitored gate photoeye?
No. Do not assume this scanner satisfies monitored entrapment-protection requirements for a gate operator. Verify the operator requirements and applicable safety devices.
What should be checked before ordering?
Check the required detection field, mounting location, wiring, power, output type, environmental exposure, and whether the access or automation controller is designed to use this type of laser scanner.
