BEA 10PHOENIXEX-IT100, Falcon EXPROOF HSG Grey, R1 & R2 config, 100ft cable
The BEA 10PHOENIXEX-IT100 belongs to the PHOENIX EX industrial motion sensor family. It combines microwave motion detection with an explosion-proof / flame-proof enclosure for specialized security, warning, and automation applications. This style of sensor is typically selected when the sensing area needs motion detection but the environment requires a protected enclosure and careful wiring practices.
This row is for the standard field IT intrusion/tamper version with a 100 ft cable reference. The PHOENIX EX family includes standard field, wide field, lower-mount / XL, and IT intrusion/tamper-oriented versions. Those part numbers are closely related, but they should be matched to the original design. The wrong field pattern or mounting-height version can create blind spots, nuisance detections, or poor coverage in an industrial bay, hazardous area, or secured perimeter zone.
The sensor should be tied into a compatible security, alarm, warning, or automation panel that accepts the required relay or monitored output behavior. It is not a pedestrian automatic door presence sensor, vehicle loop detector, or monitored gate entrapment safety device. For hazardous locations, installation should follow the site drawings, electrical classification, conduit requirements, and local code.
BEA’s PHOENIX EX Family combines a microwave motion detection sensor in an explosion-proof / flame-proof housing, which is ideal for use in unique environments such as chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining and military facilities.
The PHOENIX EX Family is designed to detect within a desired area for security or intrusion detection, warning indication and automation. When tied into a security system, the PHOENIX EX Family offers a monitoring feature via end-of-line resistors. These resistors provide unique output states, which allow differentiation between an motion detection signal and/or an interruption in functionality due to tampering of the device.
The explosion-proof / flame-proof housing is a waterproof-rated enclosure designed as an IP66 housing. This housing achieves UL Class I, Div. 1, Groups B, C, D; Class II, Div. 1 & 2, Groups E, F, G; and Class III***.

Check the original model label carefully. PHOENIX EX, PHOENIX EX WIDE, PHOENIX EX XL, and IT versions can look similar once installed in an industrial housing, but the detection field and intended mounting height are different.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Match the exact BEA part number on the installed sensor or project submittal.
- Verify standard, wide, XL / low-mount, or IT version before ordering.
- Confirm 100 ft cable requirement and wiring path.
- Confirm the control panel accepts the required relay or monitored output configuration.
- Verify the environment and electrical classification are suitable for the housing and installation method.
Professional Advisory
Explosion-proof and hazardous-location sensor work should be handled by qualified personnel familiar with the site classification and wiring method. Do not open, modify, or wire the enclosure in a way that violates the listing or local code.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Do not treat PHOENIX EX sensors as gate photo eyes or automatic door presence sensors.
- Do not interchange standard, wide, XL, and IT versions without confirming the field pattern and control requirements.
Product Questions and Answers
What is this PHOENIX EX sensor used for?
The 10PHOENIXEX-IT100 is used for industrial motion detection, intrusion monitoring, warning indication, or automation signaling in applications that require a protected explosion-proof / flame-proof style housing.
Is this a safety sensor for a gate or pedestrian door?
No. It is a microwave motion sensor for industrial detection and security-style applications. It should not be used as a monitored gate photo eye or pedestrian door presence sensor.
What is the difference between standard, wide, and XL versions?
The versions are selected by mounting height and detection field. Wide versions provide a wider detection pattern, while XL versions are commonly used for lower mounting heights. Match the original part number or project design.
What does the IT version mean on PHOENIX EX parts?
IT versions are commonly associated with intrusion/tamper monitoring configurations. The control panel and wiring must support the intended monitoring behavior.
Can I replace another PHOENIX EX model with this one?
Only when the mounting height, field pattern, cable length, output behavior, and hazardous-location requirements match the original design.
