BEA 10SSTI, SuperScan I, Primary Only
The BEA 10SSTI is a SuperScan I primary active infrared presence sensor built for automatic pedestrian door safety and presence detection. This 34.5 inch version is ordered when the door width, sensor housing, and installed BEA SuperScan I system call for that exact length. Mounted on the door or header area depending on the application, the sensor uses distance-measuring active infrared detection to monitor the area around the moving door and help the operator react while a person or object is in the pattern. In service work, the most common ordering mistakes are choosing the wrong length, confusing primary and secondary units, or substituting a different BEA sensor family by appearance alone.
BEA’s SUPERSCAN-T INDUSTRIAL is an active infrared sensor
designed for use in industrial environments that require
presence and/or safety detection. This sensor can be used on
automatic industrial doors, gates and industrial automation
applications.
The SUPERSCAN-T INDUSTRIAL uses triangulation to detect
the presence of an object, eliminating false detections caused
by varying ground and environmental conditions.
In an industrial setting, this versatile sensor can be mounted
stationary or on a moving object. Additionally, the
SUPERSCAN-T INDUSTRIAL can be used as an individual
module or daisy chained with up to 8 Secondary modules
(9 total modules). This flexibility allows the SUPERSCAN-T
INDUSTRIAL to be used on both narrow and wide doors and
many other off door applications. Each module detection zone
can be angled independently.
Fit To The application
Housing available up to 96 inches; can be field-cut to desired door width
User-Defined Detection Zones
Detection zone 24 to 96 inches
Adjustable Detection Zone
Can be set to background analysis mode to reduce the change of false detection from faulty environmental situations
Customizable Hold Time
Relay hold time can be adjusted from 0.1 to 4.5 seconds
Standards Compliant
Capable of external monitoring

Technician Note
Match the sensor length and primary/secondary configuration before ordering. A SuperScan I primary module should not be swapped with a secondary module or a different sensor family unless the door system is being redesigned and tested.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the installed BEA part number and housing length.
- Verify the row is for a primary sensor only.
- Check whether the door also uses secondary or slave modules.
- Confirm the door type and door width reference.
- Inspect wiring and harness connections before replacement.
- Perform a complete safety and activation test after adjustment.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Do not assume SuperScan I, SuperScan II, Quadscan, and LZR-FLATSCAN sensors are interchangeable.
- Changing the sensor length can change coverage and may require a new safety setup.
Professional Advisory
Automatic pedestrian door sensors and wireless controls should be installed, adjusted, and tested by a qualified automatic door technician. Do not use an activation sensor as a substitute for required presence, safety, or monitored protection devices.
Product Questions & Answers
What is the 10SSTI used for?
The 10SSTI SuperScan I is a door-mounted active infrared presence sensor for compatible automatic swinging, revolving, folding, and low-energy door applications.
Is this a primary sensor only?
Yes. The uploaded item is identified as one primary SuperScan I module. Secondary modules or additional housings are separate unless the listing states otherwise.
Can SuperScan I sensors be daisy chained?
SuperScan-T style sensors are commonly used individually or daisy chained with additional slave modules where the door width requires broader coverage.
Is this the same as SuperScan II?
No. SuperScan I and SuperScan II are related BEA sensor families but should not be treated as interchangeable without checking the installed system and wiring.
How do I choose the correct length?
Match the original BEA part number, housing length, and door width reference. A different length can affect mounting, coverage, and appearance.
