Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a D-profile bore on a pinion gear?
A: A D-profile bore has a flat machined on one side of an otherwise round bore, matching a D-shaped shaft. This provides positive rotational engagement without requiring a separate key or set screw, though some designs use both.
Q: What does the 077xxx prefix mean for this part number?
A: The 077xxx prefix indicates a legacy part number in the Genie parts system. These parts are for older operator models and may have been superseded by updated part numbers. Verify current availability with your Genie parts distributor.
Q: How do I verify that 077829.0001.S is the correct pinion gear for my legacy operator?
A: Compare the bore size, outer diameter, tooth count, module or diametral pitch, and face width against the gear in your operator. If a current replacement part number exists, it may be listed as superseding 077829.
Q: Should I replace just the pinion gear on a legacy operator or replace the entire unit?
A: If the operator is still functional and parts are available, field replacement is possible by a qualified technician. However, for older legacy units, consider the overall condition of the operator and whether a full unit replacement is more cost-effective.
Q: Where can I source this legacy pinion gear?
A: Check with authorized Genie commercial parts distributors. Legacy 077xxx parts may have limited availability, and a current equivalent part number may exist.
