A: The 110981.0001.S is MX-specific and includes the release cord plus a handle assembly sized and rated for the MX operator. The 110949.0002.S is a 30 ft hanked cord intended for longer-reach installations and may not include the MX-specific handle.
A: Pulling the release cord disengages the drive mechanism of the MX operator, allowing the door to be moved manually without power, which is essential during power outages or emergencies.
A: Genie also offers a 32-inch emergency release cord (37461R.S) for standard residential operators, but the 110981.0001.S is a longer cord kit intended for the MX commercial operator where the operator may be mounted at greater height.
A: The handle provides a secure grip point so personnel can pull the release cord firmly and safely, and it also serves as a visual indicator of the cord's location in low-light conditions.
A: After the power is restored and the door is in the closed position, re-engage the drive by pulling the release cord toward the operator or following the re-engagement procedure in the MX operator manual.
