Important Comparison With Similar Genie Fire Access Parts
Genie fire access accessories may have similar names but different part numbers or package details. Confirm the exact part number and local emergency access requirement before ordering.
- GE-113396.0001.S / 113396.0001.S: Genie-listed KNX-1 fire access box accessory for select gate operator installations.
- 113396.0002.S / KNX-2: Related Genie fire access box accessory. This is not the same part number as KNX-1 and should not be substituted without confirming the project requirement.
- Gate operator fire input: Not the same as the fire access box. The input is part of the operator control wiring; this accessory is the external access/control device.
- Keypad or telephone entry system: Not the same part. A fire access box is intended for emergency authorized access, not normal resident or visitor entry.
- Radio receiver or transmitter: Not the same part. Fire access boxes are usually wired access devices, not RF remote controls.
- Safety photo eyes or safety edges: Not replaced by this accessory. Required entrapment protection must remain installed and operational.

Technician Notes
- Confirm the installed operator manual lists KNX-1 / 113396.0001.S before ordering this accessory.
- Confirm local AHJ or fire department requirements before installing. Emergency access hardware may need specific keying, location, labeling, height, and approval.
- Do not assume this item includes a fire department-approved lock cylinder, key, micro switch, wiring harness, or mounting hardware unless the supplier package confirms it.
- Confirm whether the operator fire input requires normally open, normally closed, momentary, maintained, or other contact behavior before wiring.
- Fire access wiring should be kept separate from normal access control logic where required by the operator and local code.
- If the gate opens unexpectedly or stays open after fire access wiring is connected, check input status, relay/contact type, switch operation, wiring shorts, and operator menu settings before replacing parts.
- Do not use the fire access box to bypass monitored photo eyes, monitored safety edges, inherent entrapment protection, loop detector logic, or operator safety circuits.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the exact part number is GE-113396.0001.S or 113396.0001.S.
- Confirm the required accessory is KNX-1 and not KNX-2.
- Confirm the installed Genie gate operator supports the required fire access input or emergency access wiring.
- Confirm local fire department, police department, property manager, or AHJ requirements before ordering.
- Confirm lock/keying requirements and whether the supplied package meets local approval.
- Confirm the required contact type, switch operation, wire path, conduit, mounting height, and box location.
- Confirm whether the package includes enclosure, lock cylinder, keys, switch, wiring, mounting hardware, labels, or instructions.
- Confirm the problem is not caused by the operator fire input, damaged wiring, incorrect relay logic, stuck contact, programming issue, or a different access control device.
Professional Advisory
Fire access equipment is tied to emergency access and should be coordinated with the local authority having jurisdiction. Incorrect installation can prevent emergency responders from entering, cause unwanted gate operation, or interfere with access control and safety circuits. Fire access wiring should be installed by a qualified gate/access control technician familiar with the operator fire input, relay logic, monitored safety devices, and local emergency access requirements. Do not bypass fire access equipment, monitored entrapment protection, photo eyes, safety edges, fuses, grounding, or operator control safeguards.
Product Q&A
What is Genie GE-113396.0001.S used for?
Genie GE-113396.0001.S is the Genie-listed KNX-1 fire access box accessory used with select Genie gate operators where emergency access requirements and operator documentation confirm this part.
Is GE-113396.0001.S the same as KNX-1?
Yes. GE-113396.0001.S is commonly used as the Genie part number for the KNX-1 fire access box. Always confirm the installed operator manual, supplier package, and local fire access requirements before ordering.
Is KNX-1 the same as KNX-2?
No. KNX-1 and KNX-2 are related fire access box accessories but use different part numbers. Do not substitute KNX-2 for KNX-1 unless the project documentation or supplier confirms the correct replacement.
Does this fire access box include the lock cylinder and keys?
Package contents must be confirmed before ordering. Do not assume the box includes a lock cylinder, keys, switch, wiring, labels, or mounting hardware unless the supplier specifically lists those parts.
Can this box be used with every Genie gate operator?
No. Use this fire access box only where the Genie operator documentation or project specification confirms KNX-1 / 113396.0001.S as the correct accessory for that installation.
Who should approve the fire access box installation?
The local fire department, authority having jurisdiction, property manager, or project specification should confirm the required fire access hardware, keying, mounting location, labeling, and wiring method before installation.
Can the fire access input be used to bypass gate safety devices?
No. Fire access wiring should not bypass monitored photo eyes, safety edges, inherent entrapment protection, loop detector logic, or operator safety circuits. Emergency access should be wired and tested according to the operator manual and local requirements.
