HySecurity MX002653, KNOB, 1.25"Dia x 1/4-20 STUD
HySecurity MX002653 is a 1.25 inch diameter knob with a 1/4-20 stud for select HySecurity HyProtect breakaway bracket arm cover applications. Current listings describe this part as a knob for the HyProtect breakaway bracket arm cover and list the size as 1.25 inch diameter with a 1/4-20 stud.
This knob is commonly associated with StrongArmPark DC, StrongArm 14F, and WedgeSmart DC applications where the HySecurity parts diagram confirms MX002653. Because arm cover hardware, bracket covers, and breakaway assemblies can vary by operator model and generation, confirm the operator model, original knob style, thread size, and parts diagram before ordering.
What This Knob Does
The MX002653 knob is used as a hand-tightened retaining knob for the approved HyProtect breakaway bracket arm cover location. It allows the cover or related bracket hardware to be secured while still allowing service access where the operator design calls for this knob.
A missing, stripped, cracked, cross-threaded, or incorrect knob can leave the cover loose, allow hardware vibration, expose arm bracket components, or make service access more difficult. Similar issues can also be caused by damaged cover holes, stripped threaded inserts, bent bracket hardware, missing washers, impact damage, or use of incorrect replacement fasteners.
Compatible With
Use HySecurity MX002653 only where the operator parts diagram, original knob, or HySecurity documentation confirms this part number.
- Select HySecurity HyProtect breakaway bracket arm cover applications where MX002653 is listed.
- Select HySecurity StrongArmPark DC applications where the parts diagram lists this 1.25 inch knob with 1/4-20 stud.
- Select HySecurity StrongArm 14F applications where the parts diagram lists MX002653.

- Repairs where the original knob is marked, listed, or cross-referenced as HySecurity MX002653.
Important Compatibility Warning
Do not order MX002653 based only on knob appearance. Thread size, stud style, cover location, and operator model matter. This part is listed as a 1.25 inch diameter knob with a 1/4-20 stud and should only be used where that size and thread are correct for the cover or bracket hardware.
Do not replace this knob with a random bolt, screw, or knob if the operator parts diagram calls for MX002653. Incorrect hardware can strip the mounting point, fail to secure the cover properly, interfere with service access, or damage the breakaway bracket cover area.

Related Parts and Accessories
The correct related parts depend on the operator model, cover style, and reason the knob is being replaced. Inspect the surrounding cover and bracket hardware before ordering only the knob.
- HyProtect breakaway bracket arm cover - related cover component, not the same as the knob.
- Breakaway arm bracket hardware - related bracket parts, not the same as MX002653.
- Kill switch or stop switch kit - related safety circuit hardware on some breakaway assemblies, not the knob.
- Arm sleeve, shear bolt, or yoke hardware - separate arm hardware parts and not interchangeable with this knob.
- Mounting washers or fasteners - verify whether reused or ordered separately.
- Barrier arm hardware - inspect if the cover knob was lost after an impact or service repair.
Technician Note
Before replacing MX002653, inspect the cover, threaded mounting point, bracket hardware, and surrounding arm assembly. If the knob is missing because the arm was struck or the cover came loose, check for cracked covers, bent brackets, stripped threads, missing washers, damaged kill switch wiring, and loose arm hardware.
Do not overtighten the knob or force it into a damaged thread. If the 1/4-20 mounting point is stripped or cross-threaded, replacing the knob alone may not secure the cover correctly.
Before Ordering, Confirm
- The required part number is MX002653.
- The needed knob size is 1.25 inch diameter with a 1/4-20 stud.
- The operator parts diagram lists MX002653 for the installed cover or bracket location.
- The application is a HyProtect breakaway bracket arm cover or approved related location.
- The operator is StrongArmPark DC, StrongArm 14F, WedgeSmart DC, or another model where the parts diagram confirms this knob.
- The repair requires the knob only, not the cover, bracket, kill switch kit, shear bolt, or arm hardware.
- The threaded mounting point is not stripped, cracked, bent, or damaged.
- Any washers, cover hardware, or related fasteners needed for the repair are included or ordered separately.
Installation and Service Notes
- Secure the operator and arm area before servicing breakaway bracket cover hardware.
- Do not use a knob with the wrong thread size or stud style.
- Start the 1/4-20 stud by hand to avoid cross-threading.
- Do not overtighten the knob into plastic, cover, or bracket hardware.
- Verify the cover is seated properly and does not interfere with the arm, bracket, switch, or wiring.
- After service, check that any kill switch, breakaway switch, or cover-related wiring remains connected and working.
- Do not bypass breakaway switches, kill switches, controller protections, or required safety devices to keep the operator running.
Professional Advisory
A qualified gate technician is recommended if the knob was lost after an arm strike, breakaway event, cover damage, bracket damage, stripped hardware, switch wiring damage, or unknown prior modification. Do not bypass breakaway switches, kill switches, controller protections, arm safety systems, access control safety inputs, or any required safety devices to keep the operator running.
Product Questions & Answers
What is HySecurity MX002653?
HySecurity MX002653 is a 1.25 inch diameter knob with a 1/4-20 stud for select HyProtect breakaway bracket arm cover applications.
What operators use MX002653?
Current listings associate MX002653 with StrongArmPark DC, StrongArm 14F, and WedgeSmart DC applications where the parts diagram confirms this knob.
What size is the MX002653 knob?
MX002653 is listed as a 1.25 inch diameter knob with a 1/4-20 stud.
Is MX002653 the breakaway bracket?
No. MX002653 is only the knob. It is not the breakaway bracket, cover, arm sleeve, shear bolt assembly, kill switch kit, or complete arm hardware kit.
Can I use a generic 1/4-20 knob instead?
Only use a substitute if the operator parts diagram and hardware requirements confirm the same fit. Knob diameter, stud style, stud length, and cover fit can matter on breakaway bracket cover hardware.
What should be checked if this knob is missing?
Inspect the cover, bracket, threaded mounting point, washers, nearby arm hardware, and any kill switch or breakaway wiring. If the arm was hit, check for damage beyond the missing knob.
Should this knob be overtightened?
No. Start the 1/4-20 stud by hand and tighten only enough to secure the cover. Overtightening can strip threads, damage the cover, or crack mounting hardware.
