Technician Note
A transformer usually fails because of an electrical condition, wiring issue, surge, heat, or moisture problem. Before replacing MX002798, inspect the incoming AC voltage, input tap wiring, breaker condition, enclosure condition, wire terminals, low-voltage output circuit, charger/power supply board, batteries, and accessory loads. A new transformer can fail quickly if the original fault is still present.
Do not assume all Smart DC transformers are interchangeable. Match the transformer by HySecurity part number, input voltage, output specification, mounting style, and operator wiring diagram. If the transformer label or wiring diagram does not match the old unit, stop and verify before powering the operator.
Before Ordering, Confirm
- The required replacement part number is HySecurity MX002798.
- The operator is an AC-only SwingSmart DC model or another compatible HySecurity model where the parts diagram calls for MX002798.
- The parts diagram lists the transformer as 115/208-230VAC.
- The site voltage matches the transformer input tap configuration.
- The original transformer has failed testing and is not being misdiagnosed due to a breaker, switch, power supply board, battery, charger, or wiring problem.
- The transformer wiring, terminals, and connectors are not burned, loose, corroded, or damaged.
- The control enclosure is dry, clean, and free of insects, corrosion, and water damage.
- Any connected loads or accessories have been checked for shorts or overloads.
- You are ordering the transformer only, not a complete controller, power supply, charger, battery system, or electrical enclosure.
Professional Advisory
Transformer replacement involves hazardous AC voltage and should be performed only with power disconnected and locked out. Disconnect AC power before opening the control enclosure or handling transformer wiring. Also disconnect DC battery power and any connected solar charging source where applicable. Do not work inside a live gate operator enclosure.
If the transformer failed from burned wiring, wrong input voltage, repeated breaker trips, water intrusion, surge damage, or an unknown electrical fault, the repair should be handled by a qualified gate technician or electrician familiar with HySecurity operator systems.
