LiftMaster 02402 2-Button Outdoor Surface Mount Station
The LiftMaster 02402 2-Button Outdoor Surface Mount Control Station is a wired push-button station used to command a compatible LiftMaster commercial or industrial door operator from a fixed location. This style of station is different from a residential wall console: it is a simple dry-contact control device that connects to the operator control terminals and sends the operator the OPEN/CLOSE command signals allowed by the selected wiring type. In real installations, these stations are commonly mounted near sectional overhead doors, rolling steel doors, dock doors, warehouse doors, maintenance doors, and controlled commercial entrances where staff need direct local control.
The main fitment questions are button count, mounting style, enclosure rating, and control wiring type. A 2-button open/close station should only be used where the operator manual supports that function. Indoor NEMA 1 stations are for protected interior areas, while NEMA 4/12 outdoor stations are better suited for exposed or wash-down-prone commercial locations. If the station does not include a STOP button, a separate stop control may be required on many industrial operators. Always match the old station and operator wiring diagram before replacing a control station.
Compatible With
Used with operators wired for constant-pressure open and close control:
- LiftMaster commercial and industrial door operators when the control circuit supports the matching button function
- LiftMaster Logic 3, Logic 4, and Logic 5 commercial operator platforms when the operator manual calls for a dry-contact station
- LiftMaster industrial operators using type D1 control wiring for OPEN/CLOSE constant-pressure operation
- Exterior locations needing a two-button NEMA 4/12 die-cast enclosure
- Not recommended as the only control on most industrial operators because this station does not provide a STOP button

Technician Note
- Match this 2-button open/close station to the operator wiring type, not just to the LiftMaster brand name.
- Check whether the installed operator requires constant pressure, momentary open/close/stop, or separate stop wiring.
- If the door does not stop correctly, reverses unexpectedly, or has missing safety devices, stop using the door and have it checked by a qualified technician.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the operator model and wiring type in the manual.
- Compare the old station part number, button count, enclosure style, and mounting type.
- Confirm whether a STOP button is required at the control location.
- Verify indoor vs. outdoor location and enclosure rating.
- Turn off power and follow the operator wiring diagram; high-voltage and door-control wiring should be handled by a qualified technician.
Professional Advisory
Commercial door controls directly affect door movement. Do not modify wiring to bypass stop functions, constant-pressure requirements, monitored safety devices, interlocks, or code-required controls. Use a qualified technician when replacing controls on powered commercial doors.
Product Questions and Answers
What is the 02402 / 02-402 used for?
It is used as a hardwired 2-button open/close control station for compatible LiftMaster commercial or industrial door operators where the control circuit supports that button layout.
Can this be used on a residential garage door opener?
It is intended for commercial and industrial door operator control circuits, not typical residential smart wall controls or Security+ wall consoles.
Does this control station include a safety sensor?
No. It is a command station only. Required photo eyes, sensing edges, monitored entrapment protection, and operator safety circuits must remain in place.
How do I confirm compatibility?
Match the old station part number, enclosure style, button count, and the operator wiring diagram. The wiring type matters more than the door brand alone.
Can I install it myself?
Low-voltage control wiring should still be installed according to the operator manual. If line voltage, door movement, or safety circuits are involved, use a qualified commercial door technician.
