Liftmaster 8587WL Chain Spreader Kit
The LiftMaster 041A4208-2 is a chain spreader replacement kit used on select chain drive garage door openers. The chain spreader is a small guide component, but it plays an important role in keeping the chain path controlled as the opener runs. When the spreader is broken, missing, or badly worn, the chain can rub, rattle, run out of position, or place extra stress on rail and sprocket components.
This kit is commonly associated with LiftMaster and Chamberlain chain drive openers, including heavy-duty Wi-Fi chain drive model families where the replacement parts diagram calls for 041A4208-2. It includes the chain spreader, two screws, and two washers. A noisy or rubbing chain should also be checked for rail alignment, chain tension, trolley wear, sprocket wear, and door balance before assuming the spreader is the only problem.

Technician Note
If the chain has been rubbing hard enough to damage the spreader, inspect the chain, rail, trolley, sprocket, and chain tension. Replacing only the guide may not solve the problem if the drive system is misaligned.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the opener is a chain drive model.
- Match 041A4208-2, 41A4208, or 062210 to the opener parts diagram.
- Check the original chain spreader shape and mounting screw locations.
- Inspect the chain, sprocket, rail, and trolley for wear before installing the new guide.
- Do not overtighten mounting screws into plastic guide hardware.
Professional Advisory
Chain drive opener parts are under spring and drive-system load during operation. If the chain is off track, the trolley is jammed, or the door is not balanced, stop using the opener and have the door system inspected.
Important Ordering Warnings
- This kit is not for belt drive openers.
- Similar rail guide parts may not fit different chain rail generations.
- Chain noise can also come from sprocket wear, poor chain tension, or door balance issues.
