The LiftMaster K41-0051-000 is an APE, or Absolute Position Encoder, service kit for the HDSL24UL heavy-duty slide gate operator. The encoder helps the operator track gate position and travel information so the control system can manage movement accurately. When the encoder circuit is damaged or not reading correctly, the gate may lose position reference, fault during travel, or fail to complete setup correctly.
Product Details
This part is specific to the HD slide gate positioning system. It is commonly replaced after encoder faults, physical damage, wiring damage, water intrusion, or position tracking issues. Because the APE works with the control board, motor drive, and limit/travel setup, installation normally requires follow-up testing and may require setup procedures after replacement.
Compatible With
This part is commonly associated with the following LiftMaster applications when the operator parts diagram calls for this exact service part:
- LiftMaster HDSL24UL heavy-duty slide gate operators
- LiftMaster HDSL24UL series applications where K41-0051-000 is listed as the APE service kit
- HD slide gate systems using the factory Absolute Position Encoder assembly
- Not for HDSW24UL swing gate operators unless the parts diagram specifically calls for it
- Not for standard SL3000, SL585, CSL24UL, or other non-HDSL24UL slide gate models

Technician Note
Position-related faults are not always caused by the encoder alone. Check encoder wiring, connectors, limit base assembly, control board, power conditions, and physical gate travel before replacing parts blindly.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the operator model is HDSL24UL
- Verify K41-0051-000 appears in the HDSL24UL parts diagram
- Inspect encoder wiring and connectors for corrosion or damage
- Check for gate binding, chain problems, or limit assembly damage
- Complete travel/limit verification after installation
Professional Advisory
Encoder and limit repairs affect how the operator knows where the gate is. Use a qualified technician if the operator is faulting, losing position, or connected to high-cycle commercial access control.
Product Questions and Answers
What does APE mean on this part?
APE stands for Absolute Position Encoder, the device used to help the operator track gate position.
Which operator uses K41-0051-000?
It is commonly listed for the LiftMaster HDSL24UL heavy-duty commercial slide gate operator.
Can this be used on HDSW24UL?
Do not assume that. K41-0051-000 is commonly listed as an HDSL24UL HD slider APE part.
What symptoms can point to an encoder issue?
Position faults, travel setup problems, erratic stopping, or failure to track gate location may point to the encoder or related wiring.
Does the operator need testing after replacement?
Yes. Travel, limits, obstruction response, and monitored safety devices should be verified after installation.
