LiftMaster K76-35228-1 Reset Switch for RSW12V and RSW12VH Gate Operators
The LiftMaster K76-35228-1 reset switch is an OEM-style service replacement used in select LiftMaster RSW12V and RSW12VH swing gate operator systems. The reset switch gives the operator a manual reset input after a fault, obstruction event, control-board lockout, or service condition. When the switch is damaged, corroded, loose, or no longer making reliable contact, the gate may stay in a fault condition or fail to recover properly after troubleshooting. This part is not a general push button and should be matched to the exact RSW model, enclosure layout, and wiring harness used on the operator. For the best fitment, compare the original switch, confirm the model suffix on the operator, and review the LiftMaster parts diagram before ordering.
Compatible With
This part is intended for the following LiftMaster applications when the model, suffix, and parts diagram confirm the same service part:
- Select LiftMaster RSW12V and RSW12VH swing gate operators; verify by operator parts diagram and original switch configuration.
Common Replacement Reasons
- Operator will not reset after a fault or obstruction event.
- Reset button feels loose, stuck, cracked, or weather damaged.
- Switch wiring or terminals show corrosion or physical damage.
- The control box requires repeated manual resets before normal operation returns.

Technician Note
LiftMaster gate operator parts can vary by model generation, voltage, enclosure layout, and internal harness configuration. Match this part to the original component and the operator parts diagram before installation. Similar-looking reset switches, receptacles, limit parts, antennas, and alarm harnesses may not interchange across SL, RSL, RSW, CSW, LA, PPWR, or STAR1000 applications.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the manufacturer part number on the original part or service diagram.
- Check the operator model number and suffix on the equipment label.
- Compare mounting style, connector type, harness routing, voltage rating, and kit contents where applicable.
- For limit parts, confirm whether the operator needs a switch kit, passpoint kit, rack kit, or complete limit box assembly.
- For electrical parts, inspect the cause of failure before replacing the component.
Professional Advisory
Do not bypass monitored safety devices, alarms, interlocks, reset circuits, or factory protection features to keep a gate running. Disconnect power before servicing internal components. For high-voltage wiring, damaged control boxes, heavy slide gates, or operators that move unpredictably, have the system inspected by a qualified gate technician.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Do not rely on the product description alone when the operator has multiple generations or suffixes.
- Do not substitute a similar K76, K74, K23, K70, or K94 part number unless the parts diagram confirms the substitution.
- Limit-system repairs may require travel-limit setup and safety testing after installation.
- Receiver antenna repairs should also include a check of remote compatibility, receiver placement, and interference conditions.
Product Questions and Answers
What operator models use the K76-35228-1 reset switch?
The strongest compatibility is with select LiftMaster RSW12V and RSW12VH swing gate operators. Confirm the operator model and parts diagram before ordering because other LiftMaster reset switches may look similar.
Is K76-35228-1 the same as a standard push button?
No. It is a LiftMaster service part intended for the reset circuit on specific gate operators. A generic push button should not be substituted unless the operator documentation specifically allows it.
What problems can a bad reset switch cause?
A damaged reset switch can prevent the operator from recovering after a fault, obstruction alarm, or service reset condition. It can also cause intermittent reset response if the contacts or wiring are failing.
Can this switch be used on LA400 or LA412 operators?
Do not assume LA400 or LA412 compatibility. This part is associated with RSW12V and RSW12VH style swing gate operators; verify the original part number for other models.
Should power be disconnected before replacing this part?
Yes. Disconnect power before servicing internal switch wiring, and use a qualified gate technician if the operator has unsafe movement, damaged wiring, or high-voltage exposure.
