Liftmaster 041D8258, COVER, 8557W, 8587W
The LiftMaster 041D8258 cover is a replacement motor-head housing cover used on select LiftMaster Elite Series Wi-Fi garage door openers. It is most commonly associated with the 8557W belt drive and 8587W chain drive opener families. This cover restores the outside housing after the original shell has been damaged, removed, or lost, while helping shield the internal drive, electronics, and light compartment from normal garage dust and contact. Because the 8557W and 8587W are part of the Wi-Fi/myQ opener generation but use a different housing than several nearby models, this cover should be ordered by part number and model number rather than by appearance alone.

Technician Note
This cover is shared by certain 8557W and 8587W applications, but that does not make it a universal Elite Series cover. Check the model label on the opener head and the parts diagram before uploading or ordering.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Match the printed part number or parts diagram reference to the original cover or panel.
- Confirm the opener model number on the motor head, not only the remote or wall button model.
- Compare housing color, light-lens openings, screw locations, and tab style before ordering.
- Do not substitute a similar-looking cover from another Wi-Fi opener unless the parts diagram calls for it.
- Inspect the opener for heat damage, broken tabs, or missing screws that may affect cover fit.
Professional Advisory
Disconnect power to the garage door opener before removing covers or working around internal opener components. If the opener housing is cracked from impact, inspect nearby mounting tabs, light sockets, wires, and screw bosses before reassembly.
Product Questions and Answers
Which openers commonly use 041D8258?
041D8258 is commonly associated with LiftMaster 8557W and 8587W Wi-Fi garage door openers.
Is this the same cover as 041D8257?
No. 041D8257 is tied to the 8550W cover application, while 041D8258 is used for the 8557W and 8587W style housing.
Does drive type matter for this cover?
Yes. Even though this part is listed for a belt drive and a chain drive model, the opener housing and parts diagram still need to match.
Can this cover be installed if the original tabs broke?
It can replace a broken cover, but the opener chassis screw points and latch points must still be intact enough to hold the new cover securely.
Does the cover affect opener programming?
No. The cover is a housing part and does not store remotes, limits, Wi-Fi settings, or travel programming.
