LiftMaster MA009 1.5 Inch Motor Pulley for Mega Arm Barrier Gate Operators
The LiftMaster MA009 is a 1.5 inch replacement motor pulley for select Mega Arm barrier gate operators. It is part of the operator drive system and is used to transfer motor rotation into the belt-drive path that moves the barrier arm through its travel.
This pulley is commonly replaced when the belt has worn into the pulley groove, the set screw or bore is damaged, the pulley is wobbling, or the barrier arm drive system no longer tracks correctly. Because barrier gate operators can run many cycles per day, pulley alignment and belt condition are important for long service life.
What This Part Does
The motor pulley attaches to the motor shaft and drives the belt system inside the barrier operator. Its 1.5 inch size and bore/shaft fit must match the operator motor and belt arrangement.
A pulley replacement may restore proper belt tracking and power transfer, but it should be installed only after checking the belt, motor shaft, reducer, bearings, and arm balance. A binding arm or misaligned drive path can quickly damage a new pulley.
Common Symptoms and Service Use
- Barrier arm moves unevenly or stalls under load
- Belt slips, walks, or wears unevenly
- Motor pulley is cracked, loose, worn, or out of round
- Set screw or shaft connection is damaged
- Preventive drive-system service on Mega Arm operators
Compatible With
The MA009 is commonly associated with LiftMaster Mega Arm barrier gate operator drive systems. Compatibility depends on the operator model, motor shaft, belt type, and parts diagram.
Common Compatible Products and Operator Families
- Select LiftMaster Mega Arm barrier gate operators
- LiftMaster Mega Arm series parking barrier operators
- LiftMaster Mega Arm perimeter access systems
- Commercial parking-lot barrier gate operators using the MA009 pulley
- Mega Arm motor-drive assemblies calling for a 1.5 inch motor pulley
Additional Applications to Verify
- Mega Arm replacement drive sections where the original pulley is marked MA009 or MA-009
- Perimeter access barrier arm applications using the same motor shaft and belt-drive configuration
Important Compatibility Notes
- This is not a universal pulley for every LiftMaster barrier gate operator.
- Confirm the pulley outside diameter, bore, belt profile, and set-screw arrangement.
- Mega Arm, Mega Arm Tower, and other barrier operator generations may use different drive parts.

Also Known As / Related Part Numbers
This part may be searched under several part-number formats, older listing numbers, catalog references, or related component numbers. Related numbers are included to help identify the correct item, but they should not be treated as interchangeable unless the operator parts diagram supports the match.

Technician Note
If the pulley is worn, check belt condition and alignment before installing the replacement. A loose set screw, worn motor shaft, bad bearing, or overloaded barrier arm can cause repeat pulley or belt problems.
Before Ordering, Confirm
- The operator is a compatible Mega Arm barrier gate operator.
- The original pulley is MA009 / MA-009 or the parts diagram calls for this pulley.
- The pulley diameter and shaft bore match the original part.
- The belt width and profile match the pulley groove.
- The barrier arm moves freely and is properly balanced.
Professional Advisory
Disconnect power before servicing a barrier gate operator. Barrier arms and belt-drive components can move unexpectedly during testing. After pulley replacement, check belt alignment, arm balance, limit settings, and safety/access-control operation before returning the system to service.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Do not replace a pulley without checking the belt and shaft condition.
- Do not substitute an off-size pulley, because arm speed and belt tracking can be affected.
- This part should not be used on Mega Slide, SL3000, BG770, or other operators unless the parts diagram calls for MA009.
Questions & Answers
What is the MA009 pulley used for?
The MA009 is a 1.5 inch motor pulley used in select LiftMaster Mega Arm barrier gate operator drive systems.
Will this pulley fit all barrier gate operators?
No. It should only be used on operators where the parts diagram or original pulley confirms MA009 or MA-009.
What should be inspected with the pulley?
Inspect the belt, motor shaft, set screw, reducer, bearings, and barrier arm balance before installing the new pulley.
Can a worn pulley cause belt slipping?
Yes. A worn, loose, or misaligned pulley can cause the belt to slip, track poorly, or wear unevenly.
Is MA009 the same as MS040?
No. MA009 is a motor pulley for Mega Arm applications, while MS040 is an idler pulley kit commonly associated with Mega Slide operators.
