LiftMaster MAXUM JHDC Jackshaft Hoist DC Commercial Door Operator
The LiftMaster MAXUM JHDC is the jackshaft hoist version of the MAXUM DC commercial operator family. It is designed for commercial door applications where hoist-style manual chain operation is part of the required setup.
This model should be used only where a jackshaft hoist operator is the correct commercial configuration. The door weight, shaft layout, lift type, duty cycle, voltage/phase, safety devices, and local code requirements should all be checked before ordering.
JHDC is often discussed alongside JDC, RJDC, and TDC because they share the MAXUM DC platform, but they are different operator styles. The hoist requirement is the key reason to select JHDC instead of a standard jackshaft or trolley operator.

Technician Notes
- MAXUM DC operators use commercial door controls and monitored safety devices. Confirm voltage, phase, mounting type, door construction, and required accessories before ordering.
- MAXUM models are not universal substitutes for older mechanical commercial operators. Match the operator type to the door: jackshaft, jackshaft with manual release, jackshaft hoist, or trolley.
- Commercial door installation and wiring should be completed by a qualified commercial door technician. Do not bypass monitored photo eyes, edges, cable tension monitoring, or other required safety devices.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm exact MAXUM model required: RJDC, JDC, JHDC, or TDC.
- Confirm door type, shaft arrangement, lift type, door weight, cycle needs, and mounting location.
- Verify voltage/phase and job-site wiring requirements before ordering.
- Confirm required monitored safety devices such as CPS-U photo eyes, light curtains, edges, and cable tension monitors when applicable.
- Check whether chain guard, hoist chain, manual release hardware, or other accessories are required for the installation.
Professional Advisory
Commercial door operators involve moving-door hazards, monitored entrapment protection, and line-voltage wiring. A qualified commercial door technician should verify the application, install the operator, set limits and forces, and test all safety devices before the door is placed in service.
Product Questions and Answers
What is the MAXUM JHDC used for?
The JHDC is used for commercial door applications that require a jackshaft hoist DC operator, where hoist-style manual operation is part of the required setup.
Is JHDC interchangeable with JDC?
No. JHDC is the jackshaft hoist model, while JDC is the standard jackshaft model. Confirm the required operator style before ordering.
Does the JHDC require commercial safety devices?
Yes. MAXUM commercial operators require monitored entrapment protection matched to the application, such as approved photo eyes, edges, or other monitored devices as required.
