LiftMaster MYQ-C23AXXW1 Garage Camera Gen 2 Technical Details
The LiftMaster myQ MYQ-C23AXXW1 Garage Camera Gen 2 is a Wi-Fi-connected camera designed to monitor the garage through the myQ app. It provides 2K video, infrared night vision, motion alerts, and two-way audio for viewing and communicating with people inside the garage.
The camera connects directly to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. A separate internet gateway, bridge, or garage door opener is not required for basic camera operation. When paired with a compatible myQ-connected garage door opener, the camera and garage door can be monitored from the same myQ account.
What the MYQ-C23AXXW1 Does
- Provides live 2K video through the myQ app
- Monitors the garage during daylight and low-light conditions
- Sends standard motion notifications
- Provides two-way communication through its speaker and microphone
- Pairs with compatible myQ-connected garage door openers
- Supports optional recorded history and smart alerts with an eligible monitoring plan
The camera monitors the garage but does not operate a garage door by itself. Remote door control requires a compatible myQ-connected garage door opener or another supported myQ garage-control product.
Compatible With
- Current myQ accounts and the myQ mobile app
- Compatible LiftMaster garage door openers with myQ connectivity
- Compatible Chamberlain garage door openers with myQ connectivity
- Select myQ Smart Garage Control installations supported by the current myQ app
- Residential garages with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and a suitable indoor AC outlet
- Other supported products within the current myQ ecosystem
Compatibility with a specific opener depends on the opener model, production generation, myQ connection method, app version, firmware, and account configuration. The camera can operate as a standalone monitoring device even when it is not paired with a garage door opener.
2K Video and Night Vision
The MYQ-C23AXXW1 provides 2K video with a 130-degree field of view. Its manually adjustable swivel design allows the lens to be aimed toward the garage door, entry door, parked vehicles, storage area, or another important part of the garage.
Infrared night vision allows the camera to provide an image when normal garage lighting is limited or turned off. Direct sunlight, reflective surfaces, blocked sightlines, and incorrect camera angle can affect image quality and motion alerts.
Two-Way Audio
The built-in speaker and microphone support two-way communication through the myQ app. This can be used to communicate with family members, service providers, delivery personnel, or other authorized visitors inside the garage.
Audio performance depends on the camera location, internet connection, mobile-device connection, garage acoustics, and surrounding equipment noise. Mounting the camera directly next to a vibrating opener or noisy mechanical component may reduce audio clarity.
Wi-Fi and Mobile-App Requirements
- Active 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
- Internet service at the installation location
- Compatible mobile device
- Current myQ app
- myQ account
- Bluetooth and Location Services enabled during initial setup
- Adequate Wi-Fi signal at the final camera location
The camera is not documented for connection to a 5 GHz-only network. A dual-band router can normally be used when its 2.4 GHz network is enabled and available to the camera.
Subscription and No-Plan Features
A paid subscription is not required for basic operation. Without a monitoring plan, users can access livestream video and receive standard motion-detection alerts through the myQ app.
An eligible myQ Video Monitoring plan adds selected premium features. Current documented features may include:
- Recorded event history
- Face detection where available
- Person detection
- Animal detection
- Vehicle detection
- Package detection where supported
- Customizable detection zones
- Additional smart notifications
- myQ Smart Secure automation
- Support for monitoring multiple eligible video devices under selected plans
Monitoring-plan names, storage periods, pricing, trial terms, detection features, and regional availability may change. Do not guarantee a specific plan price or retention period without checking current myQ terms.

Mounting and Camera Placement
The current manual recommends mounting the camera approximately 7 to 10 feet above the floor. Keep it at least 1 foot below the ceiling and at least 1 foot from the nearest side wall, with the camera tilted downward.
Aim the camera so the activity to be detected appears in the lower two-thirds of the image. Before permanently positioning the camera, use the livestream in the myQ app to verify the field of view and Wi-Fi signal.
- Set the camera on a stable tabletop or shelf.
- Attach the magnetic base to a clean, secure metal surface.
- Attach it to a compatible metal garage door opener housing when the cable and camera remain clear of moving parts.
- Use the documented double-sided adhesive only on a clean, flat, stable mounting surface.
- Do not position the camera where vibration causes the image or mount to sag.
Important Garage Installation Warning
Route the USB-C power cable away from the garage door, rail, trolley, belt, chain, springs, drums, cables, rollers, hinges, and other moving components. The cable must not hang where it can become caught by the door or opener.
Do not mount the camera where it interferes with the garage door opener cover, light lens, antenna, manual release, ventilation openings, service access, or normal door travel.
Temperature-Rated Does Not Mean Weatherproof
The MYQ-C23AXXW1 is designed to operate through typical garage temperature changes from -4 F to 122 F. This does not mean the camera is approved for direct outdoor exposure.
Keep the camera and power adapter away from rain, irrigation, water leaks, condensation, washing areas, and excessive moisture. Avoid direct sunlight that could heat the camera beyond its rated temperature.
Initial Setup
- Confirm strong 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi at the intended location.
- Enable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location Services on the mobile device.
- Install or update the myQ app.
- Sign in to a myQ account or create one.
- Remove the protective film from the camera face.
- Connect the included USB-C power adapter and cable.
- Scan the QR code on the camera or inside the box.
- Follow the myQ app instructions to connect the camera.
- Wait for the status LED to turn solid green.
- Open the livestream and adjust the camera angle.
- Test motion alerts and two-way audio.

Wi-Fi Reset and Factory Reset
A Wi-Fi reset can be used after changing the router, Wi-Fi network name, or password. Follow the current manual and myQ app prompts to place the camera back into setup mode and enter the new network information.
A factory reset removes saved settings and returns the camera to an unconfigured state. Use this when transferring ownership or when directed by myQ support. The camera must be added to the myQ account again after a factory reset.

Technician Note
A camera that disconnects repeatedly is often experiencing weak Wi-Fi, router interference, changed network credentials, an unreliable outlet, a loose USB-C connection, or temperatures outside the supported range. Check those conditions before replacing the camera.
Motion alerts can be affected by garage door movement, vehicle headlights, reflective surfaces, hanging objects, insects, and activity near the edge of the image. Reposition the camera and adjust the available motion settings before assuming the sensor is defective.
Professional Advisory
The camera is a monitoring accessory and does not replace garage door photo eyes, reversal testing, warning labels, manual release hardware, door balance service, or other required safety equipment.
Have unsafe outlets, damaged power cords, overheating, recurring connectivity failures, or mounting locations near moving garage door components inspected by a qualified garage door, electrical, or low-voltage technician.
