LiftMaster myQ Retrofit Kit with 888LM myQ Control Panel and 894LT 4-Button Learning Remote
The LiftMaster MyQ-PCKG-16 package combines the 888LM myQ Control Panel with a 894LT remote. It is a practical option when the customer already has or plans to use the correct myQ gateway path and needs the wall-control upgrade together with a matching remote-control accessory.
The 888LM replaces the wall control on select older Security+ garage door openers and adds the accessory platform needed for myQ and Security+ 2.0 style remote/keypad programming. The control panel also supports remote programming functions when used on a compatible opener, which makes it useful for retrofit service calls where the original wall station is outdated or missing.
The included 894LT changes the best use of the kit. Some packages are aimed at standard Security+ 2.0 yellow learn button control, while the 892LT and 894LT versions add learning-remote flexibility for multiple radio families. Compatibility should be confirmed before replacing several controls or remotes at once.

Technician Note
The 888LM is compatibility-sensitive and should be matched by opener model and learn-button generation. It is generally a retrofit wall-control solution for select older Security+ openers, not a universal replacement for every wall station and not a substitute for required safety devices or correct door-control wiring.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the opener brand, model number, manufacture date, learn button color, and antenna wire color.
- Confirm the opener is listed for 888LM/myQ retrofit use and is not one of the unsupported models.
- Verify whether the job requires an 828LM Internet Gateway or whether one is already installed and active.
- Match the included remote to the receiver type, learn button, and number of doors or gates being controlled.
- Check that required photo eyes, monitored safety devices, and door controls are working before adding app or radio control.
Professional Advisory
Disconnect power before wall-control replacement and follow the manufacturer instructions. Do not install retrofit controls on unsupported opener types or use app/remote control to operate a door with missing or failed safety devices. For uncertain wiring or unsafe door movement, use a qualified garage door technician.
Product Questions and Answers
Does this kit work with every LiftMaster opener?
No. The kit depends on the opener model, age, learn button, antenna wire, and wall-control compatibility. Many compatible retrofit applications are LiftMaster-family openers made after 1998, but several models and door types are excluded.
What does the 888LM control panel do in this package?
The 888LM replaces the compatible wall control and provides the retrofit path for myQ and Security+ 2.0 style accessory programming on select older Security+ openers. It is the wall-control portion of the upgrade.
When do I need the 828LM Internet Gateway?
The 828LM is used when the compatible myQ-enabled opener, control panel, or accessory needs a router-connected gateway for smartphone app control. Some package rows include the gateway, while others only include the 888LM control panel and remote.
Why is the 894LT remote included with this package?
The 894LT gives the kit a matching handheld transmitter option. Its compatibility is based on the remote family: Security+ 2.0, 315 MHz, 390 MHz and select DIP cloning applications. Match it to the opener or receiver before ordering.
Can this be used if my garage door safety sensors are not working?
No. Do not add remote or smartphone control to a door with missing, blocked, bypassed, or failed safety sensors. Repair the safety system first and use a qualified technician when the door operation is unsafe.
