Linear ProxKey 0-297301A 125 kHz Credential Details
The Linear / Nice ProxKey 0-297301A package contains 25 passive 125 kHz proximity key fobs for compatible HID-format access-control readers. Each credential uses the standard 26-bit format with facility code 11 and is supplied in a compact key-ring form factor.
When the fob is presented near a compatible reader, the reader obtains its credential data and sends that information to the access controller. The controller then checks the enrolled credential number, facility code, access level, schedule, and door permissions before granting or denying access.
What the ProxKey Credential Does
The ProxKey provides a convenient alternative to a full-size proximity card. It can be carried on a key ring and assigned to employees, tenants, residents, contractors, vendors, or other authorized users.
The fob is a passive credential and does not require a user-replaceable battery. It does not contain a radio-control transmitter, Bluetooth credential, keypad code, or standalone door relay.
Compatible With
- Select 125 kHz readers compatible with HID proximity credential technology
- Access controllers accepting standard 26-bit credential data
- Systems configured to accept facility code 11
- Linear and IEI access-control systems using compatible Wiegand readers
- Third-party access-control systems whose readers and controllers support the same credential format
- Existing installations using Linear ProxKey 0-297301A credentials
- Legacy installations previously using discontinued ProxKey 0-297301, subject to database verification
Exact compatibility depends on both the reader and the access controller. A reader may detect the 125 kHz credential while the controller still rejects it because of an unsupported format, incorrect facility code, duplicate card number, disabled user record, or access-level restriction.
Standard 26-Bit Format and Facility Code 11
Nice/Linear identifies part number 0-297301A as a standard 26-bit credential with facility code 11. Confirm that the existing system is configured for this exact combination before ordering.
Do not assume that every 125 kHz HID-compatible reader installation uses standard 26-bit data. Existing sites may use another facility code, a custom bit format, site-specific numbering, or credentials supplied under a controlled numbering agreement.
Reader and Controller Compatibility
The ProxKey communicates with the proximity reader at 125 kHz. The reader then sends credential data to the access controller through its supported interface, commonly Wiegand in systems associated with this credential.
The key fob itself is not a reader and does not connect directly to a gate operator, door strike, magnetic lock, telephone entry system, or relay. A compatible reader and properly programmed access controller are required.
Replacement for Linear 0-297301
Linear officially identified 0-297301A as the replacement for discontinued model 0-297301. The manufacturer states that the newer design functions the same as the previous ProxKey while being smaller and thinner.
Replacement of the physical credential does not automatically transfer the old user's access permissions. A new fob normally has its own credential number and must be enrolled into the access-control database. The lost or replaced credential should be disabled to prevent unauthorized use.

Credential Enrollment and Numbering
Before enrolling the new fobs, review the facility code and credential numbers supplied with the package. Check the existing database for duplicates before assigning the credentials to users.
Record each fob number with the assigned person's name or account. When a fob is lost, stolen, damaged, or reassigned, disable the old credential record before issuing a replacement.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm that the reader operates at 125 kHz.
- Verify that the reader supports compatible HID proximity credentials.
- Confirm that the controller accepts standard 26-bit data.
- Verify that facility code 11 is permitted at the site.
- Review the existing credential-number range for duplicates.
- Confirm that the controller has capacity for 25 additional users.
- Determine whether standard or custom-format credentials are required.
- Confirm that physical key fobs are preferred over cards or mobile credentials.
- Verify the required package quantity before opening or enrolling the fobs.
- Confirm the site's procedure for lost, returned, and reassigned credentials.
Professional Access-Control Advisory
Credential enrollment should be completed by an authorized system administrator or qualified access-control technician. Test each new fob at the assigned readers and confirm the correct access levels, schedules, door permissions, expiration dates, and audit records.
Proximity credentials must not bypass free-egress hardware, emergency release, fire access, mechanical override, or other required life-safety provisions. Immediately disable credentials reported lost or stolen.
Product Questions & Answers
What is included with Linear ProxKey 0-297301A?
The package contains 25 standard 26-bit, 125 kHz HID-compatible proximity key fobs with key-ring hardware. Readers, controllers, and programming services are not included.
What facility code is used by ProxKey 0-297301A?
Nice/Linear identifies this credential package with facility code 11. Verify that the access controller accepts facility code 11 before ordering.
Will these key fobs work with every HID proximity reader?
No. They are compatible with select 125 kHz HID-format readers, but the reader and controller must also support standard 26-bit credentials, facility code 11, and the supplied credential-number range.
Does a ProxKey 0-297301A require a battery?
No. It is a passive 125 kHz proximity credential and does not require a user-replaceable battery.
Can 0-297301A replace the discontinued 0-297301 ProxKey?
Yes. Linear officially identified 0-297301A as the functional replacement for discontinued 0-297301. The new fob must still be enrolled into the access-control database.
Do the key fobs arrive programmed into my access controller?
No. Each fob has credential data, but the credential number must be entered or enrolled into the site's controller and assigned the required user permissions.
What is the difference between ProxKey 0-297301A and KFB125-H?
Both are Nice/Linear 125 kHz HID-compatible key fob products, but they use different part numbers and may have different credential numbering or ordering options. Verify the format, facility code, and card-number requirements before substituting them.
What should be checked before adding a new 25-pack?
Confirm reader frequency, HID-format compatibility, 26-bit controller support, facility code 11, available user capacity, and the existing credential-number range to prevent duplicate records.
