SECO-LARM E-9644-6B25 IR Curtain Sensors for Indoor/Outdoor Access Control - Replaced with E-9643-6S328DA
The SECO-LARM E-9643-6S328DA is part of the newer long-range ENFORCER curtain barrier sensor family. It uses 6 beams to create a taller infrared detection curtain than a standard single photobeam, which is helpful when the job calls for coverage across a doorway, gate approach, window opening, fence top, or perimeter gap. Instead of watching only one beam line, it supervises a vertical zone and can be programmed for a single beam break or simultaneous break of two adjacent beams.
This style of sensor is commonly selected when an older SECO-LARM 25 ft IR curtain sensor is being replaced or when an access-control installer needs a stronger outdoor-rated curtain beam with longer range. The new 9-30 VDC platform, IP65 housing, tamper output, selectable relay, and sync/asynchronous operating modes make fitment more technical than a simple swap. Before ordering, compare the old model number, sensor height, mounting surface, wiring route, power source, relay logic, and whether the site uses synchronized wiring.

Technician Note
When replacing an older curtain sensor, do not assume the new body will land on the same holes or use the same wiring pattern. Check beam count, sensor height, sync wiring, relay logic, tamper wiring, and power supply before removing the original unit.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the exact old part number and whether the page is being used for a replacement model.
- Check beam count and sensor height against the opening.
- Confirm 9-30 VDC power is available at the installation point.
- Verify NO/NC relay logic and tamper circuit requirements.
- Confirm whether synchronized wiring is needed for the full listed range.
Professional Advisory
Photobeam and curtain sensors should be installed, aligned, and tested by a qualified gate, door, or access-control technician when used around moving gates, overhead doors, maglocks, or perimeter security circuits. Do not bypass monitored safety devices or rely on a non-monitored alarm beam as an entrapment protection device unless the operator manual specifically allows that setup.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Older 25 ft curtain models and newer long-range curtain models may not share the same body size, wiring layout, or operating modes.
- Do not list this as a direct replacement for every SECO-LARM curtain beam unless the original model and installation requirements have been checked.
Product Questions
How many beams does the E-9643-6S328DA use?
The E-9643-6S328DA uses 6 independent photoelectric beams in a vertical curtain-style sensor pair.
Can this sensor replace the older 25 ft IR curtain models?
It may be used as the newer related replacement direction for select older SECO-LARM IR curtain models, but dimensions, wiring, trigger mode, power, and mounting space must be checked before ordering.
What is the difference between synchronized and asynchronous operation?
Synchronized operation uses a sync connection and supports the longest listed range. Asynchronous operation can simplify wiring in some layouts but has a shorter listed range.
Is this a monitored gate safety photo eye?
It is a curtain barrier detection sensor. Do not treat it as a monitored gate entrapment safety device unless the operator manual specifically supports that application.
Why are there 4, 6, and 8 beam versions?
The beam count and physical height change how much vertical coverage the sensor provides. Choose the beam count based on the opening height, target detection area, and mounting location.
