Select Entry Systems ALXCPUS Alliance Voice Processor Call Processing Unit Details
The Select Entry Systems ALXCPUS is the call processing unit for the SES Alliance Voice Processor no-phone-bill access control system. It is designed for multi-tenant buildings and controlled entrances where visitors need to communicate with residents through the building's existing inside telephone wiring without requiring a separate outside business telephone line for the entry system.
This ALXCPUS package includes one ALXLEP Line Expansion Panel. The expansion panel is designed to hold up to 8 ALXLC line cards. The ALXLC line cards are sold separately unless the current supplier package specifically states otherwise. Confirm the number of apartments, offices, extensions, entrances, and line cards required before ordering.
What This Unit Does
The ALXCPUS acts as the central call processing module for an Alliance no-phone-bill access control system. It works with compatible SES entrance control equipment and the building's internal telephone wiring so a visitor at a controlled entrance can call a resident. The resident hears a distinctive double-ring style entrance call and may release the entrance by dialing the programmed access tone, commonly 6.
- Provides central call processing for SES Alliance no-phone-bill access control systems.
- Uses existing inside telephone wiring in the building.
- Helps avoid the need for a separate business telephone line dedicated to the entry system.
- Includes one ALXLEP Line Expansion Panel that holds up to 8 ALXLC line cards.
- Supports system expansion when additional ALXLEP expansion panels and ALXLC line cards are used.
- Supports distinctive entrance-call ringing so residents can identify lobby or gate calls.
- Allows resident door release by programmed touch-tone command when properly installed.
- May support multiple entrances, call waiting, postal lock provision, optional card access, optional guard phone, and optional remote programming depending on the complete SES system configuration.
Compatible With
The ALXCPUS is a dedicated component for Select Entry Systems / Select Engineered Systems Alliance Voice Processor no-phone-bill access control systems. It should be used only where the complete system design matches the Alliance telephone-switched architecture.
- Select Entry Systems Alliance Voice Processor systems.
- Select Engineered Systems Alliance No Phone Bill access control systems.
- ALXLEP Line Expansion Panels.
- ALXLC 12-phone Line Cards, sold separately.
- ALXBL6 interface cable applications where required by system design.

- Compatible SES entrance control units selected for the Alliance system.
- New and existing apartment buildings, condominiums, dormitories, housing authority properties, private residential communities, nursing homes, office buildings, and similar multi-tenant facilities.
Important Compatibility Warning
The ALXCPUS is not a standalone telephone entry panel, keypad, line card, cellular module, or gate operator controller. It is the call processing unit used as part of a larger Alliance Voice Processor system. The entrance station, line cards, line expansion panels, interface blocks, cables, transformers, door strikes, relays, directories, card access equipment, and programming options must be matched to the job.
Do not confuse ALXCPUS with ALXCPUSLT. The ALXCPUS is the expandable version that includes one ALXLEP expansion panel capable of holding 8 ALXLC line cards and can be expanded with additional line expansion panels. The ALXCPUSLT is the limited version that holds 4 ALXLC line cards and has no expansion capability. Confirm the required suite count and future expansion requirements before ordering.

Technician Note
The ALXCPUS is usually sold into larger multi-tenant jobs, not simple residential gate repairs. The important checks are suite count, entrance count, line-card count, expansion-panel count, inside telephone wiring condition, and which SES entrance panels are already on site. Do not quote it like a plug-in keypad or a simple cellular call box.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the exact part number is ALXCPUS or SES-ALXCPUS.
- Confirm the customer needs the expandable ALXCPUS version, not the ALXCPUSLT lite version.
- Confirm the system is an SES Alliance Voice Processor no-phone-bill system.
- Confirm the included ALXLEP expansion panel is enough for the first phase of the job.
- Confirm ALXLC line cards are ordered separately in the correct quantity.
- Confirm building telephone wiring supports the intended system layout.
- Confirm the number of controlled entrances and relay functions required.
- Confirm RJ71C, interface block, cable, enclosure, transformer, and entrance panel requirements.
- Confirm whether optional card access, remote programming, guard phone, postal lock, music-on-hold, or ADA options are part of the project.
- Confirm all door release, gate operator, fire access, emergency access, and safety requirements remain compliant.
Installation and Service Notes
The ALXCPUS should be installed and serviced by a qualified telephone entry, access control, low-voltage, or building systems technician familiar with SES Alliance wiring. Do not connect the call processing unit directly to high-voltage lock or gate motor circuits. Electric strikes, maglocks, door operators, and gate operators may require separate power supplies, isolation, relays, and code-compliant release hardware.
For South Florida customers, Gate Openers Unlimited may be able to assist with availability and Hialeah Gardens local pickup when appropriate. For condominiums, apartments, dormitories, and large commercial properties, confirm the full system design before ordering individual Alliance components.
Professional Advisory
Alliance Voice Processor systems involve building telephone wiring, access control wiring, relay outputs, entrance panels, and life-safety considerations. If the site has unknown telephone wiring, intermittent audio, lightning damage, failed line cards, door release trouble, unsafe lock wiring, fire access concerns, or unclear system design, have the system checked by a qualified SES access control technician before replacing major components.
Product Questions & Answers
What is the Select Entry Systems ALXCPUS used for?
The ALXCPUS is the call processing unit for the SES Alliance Voice Processor no-phone-bill access control system. It manages building telephone communication between compatible SES entrance panels and resident telephone wiring.
Does the ALXCPUS include an expansion panel?
Yes. The ALXCPUS includes one ALXLEP Line Expansion Panel. That panel can hold up to 8 ALXLC line cards, but the ALXLC line cards are normally sold separately unless the current supplier package states otherwise.
How many phones can the included expansion panel support?
The included ALXLEP expansion panel can hold up to 8 ALXLC line cards. Each ALXLC line card supports up to 12 telephones, so a fully populated included panel can support up to 96 telephones.
What is the maximum system capacity of the ALXCPUS?
The ALXCPUS system is expandable with additional ALXLEP expansion panels and ALXLC line cards and is commonly listed for up to 1536 suites or telephones when designed and installed correctly.
What is the difference between ALXCPUS and ALXCPUSLT?
ALXCPUS is the expandable Alliance call processing unit and includes one ALXLEP expansion panel. ALXCPUSLT is the lite version that holds 4 ALXLC line cards and does not provide the same expansion capability.
Does the ALXCPUS need a separate business telephone line?
The Alliance Voice Processor system is designed to use existing inside building telephone wiring without requiring a separate outside business telephone line for the entry system. The building wiring and system design still need to be verified before installation.
Can residents open the entrance from their phone?
Yes, when the Alliance system is properly installed and programmed, residents can allow entry by dialing the programmed release tone, commonly 6. Additional entrance functions may use other programmed tones depending on system setup.
Can the ALXCPUS replace a standard telephone entry panel?
Not by itself. The ALXCPUS is a central call processing unit for an Alliance system. It does not replace a standalone TEC, CAT, Select Gate, keypad, cellular call box, line card, or entrance panel without confirming the complete system design.
