Transmitter Solutions 295SEPA1V Stingray 295 MHz AUTOkey Compatibility Details
The Transmitter Solutions TRARAY295SEPA1V is the Gate Openers Unlimited catalog SKU for the Stingray transmitter identified by Transmitter Solutions as model 295SEPA1V. This is a programmable one-button visor transmitter operating at 295 MHz for compatible Sentex AUTOkey and access control radio applications.
Transmitter Solutions specifically identifies the 295SEPA1V as compatible with the Sentex AUTOkey-1 transmitter application. The transmitter uses a factory-set sequence number and facility code that must be programmed into compatible system memory. It is not a DIP-switch transmitter.
What This Transmitter Does
The 295SEPA1V sends an individually numbered 295 MHz wireless credential to a compatible receiver. The one-button transmitter uses Button A for the authorized function assigned by the installed receiver or access control system.
The connected receiver determines what Button A operates. Depending on the properly configured system, the transmitter may activate an authorized gate, door, or access control function.
Matching 295 MHz frequency alone does not establish compatibility. The receiver must also support the applicable AUTOkey-compatible radio protocol and transmitter credential format.
All Verified Compatibility and Applications
- Sentex AUTOkey-1 transmitter applications.
- Transmitter Solutions HIVE Wiegand Receiver in the compatible 295 MHz configuration.
- Compatible 295 MHz programmable telephone entry systems using the supported AUTOkey-compatible transmitter protocol.
- Compatible 295 MHz security systems using the supported AUTOkey-compatible transmitter protocol.
- Compatible 295 MHz access control systems using the supported AUTOkey-compatible transmitter protocol.
Sentex AUTOkey-1 Compatibility
The current Transmitter Solutions product page and exact 295SEPA1V model cut sheet specifically identify Sentex AUTOkey-1 compatibility.
The Stingray 295SEPA1V is a Transmitter Solutions product using an AUTOkey-compatible protocol. It should not be described as the same physical or packaged transmitter as an original Sentex AUTOkey-1. The verified relationship is compatibility with the documented AUTOkey-1 transmitter application.
Do not match a replacement by the Sentex name or 295 MHz frequency alone. Verify the original transmitter and installed receiver before ordering.
HIVE Wiegand Receiver Compatibility
Transmitter Solutions documents the HIVE Wiegand Receiver in 295 MHz, 318 MHz, and 433 MHz configurations. The manufacturer receiver cut sheet specifically lists Stingray 295 MHz transmitters as compatible accessories and identifies Sentex compatibility.
The installed HIVE Wiegand Receiver must use the compatible 295 MHz radio configuration for the 295SEPA1V. A 318 MHz or 433 MHz receiver is not a frequency match.
The 295SEPA1V transmitter does not have a wired Wiegand connection. It sends its 295 MHz wireless credential to the compatible receiver. The receiver provides the wired Wiegand interface to the telephone entry or access control equipment.
HIVE Dual Frequency Wiegand Receiver Considerations
Transmitter Solutions also documents a HIVE Dual Frequency Wiegand Receiver platform that can use a 295 MHz radio card with Sentex protocol. The receiver uses plug-in radio frequency cards and supports Wiegand output configuration.
The dual-frequency receiver manual does not individually list 295SEPA1V by exact model number. When servicing one of these installations, verify that the installed receiver contains the correct 295 MHz Sentex protocol radio card before ordering the transmitter.
Manufacturer 26-Bit, 30-Bit, and 33-Bit Documentation Differences
The exact 295SEPA1V cut sheet describes the transmitter for Wiegand 26-bit programmable telephone entry, security, and access control systems operating with a 295 MHz input.
The older Stingray 295SEPAxV transmitter family manual states that the individually numbered transmitter may be used with a compatible receiver capable of receiving a 33-bit input and an access control system using the same protocol.
The current HIVE Wiegand Receiver product information identifies 295 MHz operation at 30 bits, while its receiver cut sheet states compatibility with 26-bit devices. The HIVE Dual Frequency Wiegand Receiver manual separately documents selectable 26-bit or 30-bit Wiegand output.
These manufacturer references may describe different points in the radio credential and receiver output path, but the public documents do not provide a single universal format statement for every 295 MHz installation. Verify the exact receiver, radio card, Wiegand output setting, and access control panel format before ordering for a managed access system.
Factory-Set Sequence Number and Facility Code
The Transmitter Solutions Stingray manual states that each 295SEPAxV transmitter is manufactured and sold with a different factory-set sequence number and facility code.
The facility code and sequence number must be programmed into compatible system memory. This credential method is different from opening a fixed-code transmitter and copying DIP-switch positions.
The manufacturer documents a 24-bit security code providing 16,777,216 code combinations.
For an HOA, gated community, apartment property, commercial site, parking facility, or other managed access system, confirm the required facility code and transmitter-number arrangement before ordering additional transmitters.
A transmitter can operate at the correct 295 MHz frequency and still fail to activate the system if its facility code or individual sequence number has not been authorized in the receiver or access control system.
295 MHz Range and Radio Performance
The manufacturer documents 295 MHz operation with AM/ASK modulation and a free-space range of 60 to 120 yards. Actual installed range may be lower because of receiver antenna placement, metal equipment cabinets, buildings, radio interference, and other site conditions.
If an existing transmitter suddenly works only from close to the receiver, check the 23A battery and receiver antenna condition before assuming the transmitter model is incorrect.
One-Button Stingray Configuration
The Transmitter Solutions 295SEPA transmitter family manual identifies two Stingray visor models:
- 295SEPA1V - one-button Stingray transmitter with Button A.
- 295SEPA2V - two-button Stingray transmitter with Buttons A and B.
The exact 295SEPA1V is the one-button version. Confirm that the installation requires only the authorized Button A function before replacing a two-button transmitter with this model.
Button and Enclosure Color Documentation
The current Transmitter Solutions product page describes the 295SEPA1V as charcoal. The exact model cut sheet identifies one white button. The transmitter family manual labels Button A as light grey and the enclosure as black.
Because the manufacturer uses different color descriptions, do not identify compatibility by button or housing color alone. Verify the complete 295SEPA1V model number, 295 MHz frequency, and AUTOkey-compatible receiver system.
Similar Parts Are Not Automatically Interchangeable
295SEPA2V is the related two-button Stingray visor transmitter. Transmitter Solutions specifically identifies that model with Sentex AUTOkey-2 compatibility. Do not substitute the one-button 295SEPA1V when a second transmitter function is required.
295SEPA1K-C is a Monarch one-button 295 MHz keychain transmitter documented for Sentex AUTOkey-1K compatibility. It is a separate transmitter family and exact compatibility application. AUTOkey-1 and AUTOkey-1K should not automatically be treated as the same replacement application.
The Monarch 295SEPA1K-C also uses two CR2016 lithium batteries and includes ChargeGuard battery-status indication. The Stingray 295SEPA1V is a visor transmitter using one 12V type 23A alkaline battery.
295SEPC transmitter models belong to a separate 295 MHz transmitter family. The SEPA and SEPC model suffixes should not be interchanged based only on frequency and housing appearance.
318 MHz, 418 MHz, 433 MHz, and other-frequency Stingray transmitters are not replacements for the 295SEPA1V. A DIP-switch transmitter is also not an automatic replacement for this programmable AUTOkey-compatible credential transmitter.

Package and Battery Check
The manufacturer specifies one 12V type 23A alkaline battery as the transmitter power source and identifies the product as a visor transmitter. Current public manufacturer documentation does not clearly list every retail package component or specifically confirm a fresh battery or separate visor mounting accessory in every package. Confirm current package contents when those items are specifically required.
Technician Note
The biggest ordering mistake with the 295SEPA1V is matching only "295 MHz" and "1 button." Check the SEPA model family and AUTOkey-1 compatibility. Do not substitute a Monarch AUTOkey-1K keychain transmitter, a 295SEPC model, or another 295 MHz transmitter based only on frequency. For Wiegand access control installations, identify the actual receiver and output format because the manufacturer documentation uses 26-bit, 30-bit, and 33-bit language in different 295 MHz product documents.

Programming and Service Notes
The transmitter facility code and factory-set sequence number must be programmed into compatible system memory. Use the programming procedure for the exact installed receiver, telephone entry system, or access control platform.
Do not attempt to program the 295SEPA1V by copying DIP-switch positions. The transmitter does not use a DIP-switch code bank.
The manufacturer specifies one 12V type 23A alkaline battery. Battery access is through the sliding battery door. Install the battery with the polarity shown in the transmitter enclosure. The red LED should illuminate when Button A is pressed.
If the transmitter LED does not illuminate, the manufacturer troubleshooting information directs the user to replace the transmitter battery. If the LED is on but the system does not receive the signal, verify that the transmitter facility code and sequence number have been programmed into the system. Reduced operating range is also a manufacturer-listed reason to replace the battery.
If short range continues with a known-good battery, inspect the receiver antenna location and radio environment. Metal equipment enclosures and radio interference can reduce operating range.
Professional Advisory
Do not bypass photo eyes, monitored safety edges, entrapment protection, emergency access, fire access, garage door reversal systems, or operator safety circuits while troubleshooting a transmitter or receiver problem. Unclear receiver wiring, Wiegand interfaces, gate operator inputs, or access control electrical faults should be inspected by a qualified gate, garage door, or access control technician.
