The Genie 35220A.S is the genuine OEM middle section of a 3-piece modular gearbox housing designed for the IC/PMX family of Genie residential garage door openers. It mates precisely with the top section (35219A.S) and the bottom section (GE-35221A.S) to fully enclose and protect the internal gear train within the opener powerhead. The middle section maintains accurate gear alignment and prevents contamination of the lubricated gear assembly. Replacing only the damaged section rather than the entire housing assembly reduces service time and parts cost. Compatible Genie models include PMX300-IC/A, PMX500-IC/A, PMX300-IC/B, PMX500-IC/B, IC250/B.
A: No. GE-35220A.S is the middle section only. A complete gearbox housing requires all three pieces: 35219A.S (top), GE-35220A.S (middle), and GE-35221A.S (bottom).
A: The three sections bolt or snap together and collectively enclose the full gear train inside the powerhead. The middle section mates with both the top and bottom sections.
A: No. This part is designed specifically for the IC/PMX family of openers. Verify your model number before ordering.
A: Visible cracks, chips, or warping of the housing, excessive gear noise, or oil/grease leaking from the gearbox are common signs that the housing may need replacement.
A: 25-35220A.S is an alternate SKU or catalog number for the same part. Both numbers refer to GE-35220A.S.
