AES PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH Powder Coat Pedestal Shell Assembly
The AES PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH is a replacement shell assembly for select AES Prime EDGE pedestal-style access control units. It is commonly used when the original outer housing has been damaged, weathered, scratched, dented, or replaced during a site refresh.
This is a housing/shell component, not a complete Prime EDGE intercom system. Internal electronics, keypad modules, call button assemblies, cellular boards, antennas, power supplies, wiring harnesses, mounting hardware, and trim components should be confirmed separately unless your supplier documentation specifically states they are included.
Primary Use
- Replacement shell assembly for select AES Prime EDGE pedestal applications
- Used to restore the exterior housing on compatible Prime EDGE pedestal-mounted units
- Intended for powder coat pedestal configurations where the original shell matches PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH
- Useful for damaged, faded, weathered, or cosmetically worn access control housings
Compatible With
Use this shell assembly only where the installed equipment and AES parts documentation confirm PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH as the correct replacement. Do not assume fitment based only on the Prime EDGE name.
- Select AES Prime EDGE pedestal-style units where the parts diagram lists PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH
- Prime EDGE pedestal installations where the original shell is marked, ordered, or cross-referenced as PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH
- Repairs where the existing enclosure style, finish, mounting pattern, and front panel layout match the powder coat pedestal shell
- Access control sites replacing only the exterior shell while retaining confirmed compatible internal Prime EDGE components

Important Comparison With Similar AES Shell Parts
AES Prime EDGE and related AES entry products may use similar-looking housings that are not automatically interchangeable. Confirm the exact part number before ordering.
- PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH: Powder coat pedestal shell assembly for select Prime EDGE pedestal applications.
- PRIME-EDGE-PSK-SH: Commonly associated with the stainless steel pedestal shell version. Do not substitute for PBK unless AES documentation confirms the change.
- PRIME-EDGE-ABK-SH: Architectural-style shell assembly. This is a different mounting style and should not be treated as the same part as the pedestal PBK shell.
- Prime EDGE complete units: Complete intercom kits may include electronics, power supply, antenna, keypad, and other components. A shell assembly is not the same as a complete system.
- Multicom, OPN, Prime7, and other AES shells: These may share similar finish wording or mounting descriptions, but they are different product families and should not be substituted by appearance alone.

Technician Notes
- Check the installed unit label, original invoice, or AES parts breakdown before ordering. Prime EDGE shell parts can look similar but differ by finish and mounting style.
- Inspect the internal electronics before moving them into a replacement shell. Water intrusion, corrosion, loose connectors, damaged antenna wiring, or cracked keypad trim can cause problems that a shell alone will not fix.
- Confirm whether the existing installation is pedestal, architectural, imperial, flush, or another enclosure style. Mounting hole patterns and front panel layouts may not match across styles.
- If the shell is being replaced because of impact damage, also inspect the pedestal, mounting plate, hinge points, fasteners, wiring strain relief, and antenna routing.
- Do not drill, modify, or force-fit the shell around electronics unless the AES documentation confirms the component layout. Unapproved modifications can affect weather protection and service access.
- If internal wiring, access permissions, relay wiring, or cellular equipment is disturbed during the swap, have the system checked by a qualified access control technician.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the exact part number is PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH.
- Confirm the installed unit is an AES Prime EDGE model, not Prime7, Multicom, OPN, or another AES family.
- Confirm the enclosure style is pedestal mount and not architectural, imperial, flush, or wall-style housing.
- Confirm the finish required is the powder coat PBK version and not the stainless PSK version.
- Confirm whether this item includes only the shell or any additional mounting hardware, trim, seals, or fasteners.
- Inspect the existing keypad, call button, speaker, cellular board, antenna, wiring harness, and power supply before reusing them.
- Confirm the original failure is not caused by internal electronics, antenna damage, corrosion, relay wiring, power supply issues, or programming.
Professional Advisory
This shell assembly does not require electrical programming by itself, but access control equipment often includes low-voltage power, cellular modules, relay outputs, gate operator connections, electric locks, fire access wiring, and safety-related circuits. If the replacement involves wiring changes, relay connections, access permissions, antenna routing, or unknown prior modifications, use a qualified gate or access control technician. Do not bypass safety devices, fire access equipment, monitored protection circuits, or operator control protections during installation.
Product Q&A
Is AES PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH a complete Prime EDGE intercom?
No. AES PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH should be treated as a replacement shell assembly or housing component, not a complete Prime EDGE intercom kit. Confirm package contents before ordering if you need electronics, keypad parts, antenna, power supply, or mounting hardware.
What Prime EDGE units does PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH fit?
PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH is intended for select AES Prime EDGE pedestal-style applications where the installed unit and parts documentation list this shell assembly. Verify the original part number, enclosure style, and finish before ordering.
No. PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH and PRIME-EDGE-PSK-SH should not be treated as the same part. PBK is commonly associated with the powder coat pedestal version, while PSK is commonly associated with a stainless pedestal shell version. Confirm the required finish and part number.
Can I use this shell on an AES architectural Prime EDGE unit?
Do not assume it will fit an architectural unit. PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH is for pedestal-style applications where specified. Architectural shell versions use different part numbering and may have different mounting and panel requirements.
Does this shell assembly fix keypad, cellular, or relay problems?
No. A shell assembly only addresses the housing. Keypad failures, cellular connection problems, relay output issues, antenna faults, power supply problems, or programming errors must be diagnosed separately.
What should I check before moving my electronics into this replacement shell?
Check for corrosion, water damage, cracked connectors, damaged antenna cable, loose wiring, failed seals, and damaged mounting hardware. If wiring or access control programming is disturbed, have the system checked by a qualified technician.
Are mounting hardware and internal parts included with PRIME-EDGE-PBK-SH?
Package contents should be confirmed before ordering. Shell assemblies may not include internal electronics, keypad modules, antenna, power supply, seals, screws, trim, or pedestal mounting hardware unless specifically stated by the supplier.
