BEA 10LZRFLATSCAN-S, FLATSCAN S
The BEA 10LZRFLATSCAN-S LZR-FLATSCAN S is a compact laser presence sensor used when an automatic industrial door, gate, or barrier needs a defined detection field. Instead of requiring a saw-cut loop in the pavement, the sensor projects a single laser curtain and monitors that field for people or vehicles. This makes it useful on slide gates, swing gates, barrier lanes, high-performance doors, and loading dock openings where cutting the ground is prohibited, impractical, or expensive. The metal IP66 housing and adjustable mounting orientation make it practical for many outdoor or industrial locations. Correct setup is critical. The field size, mounting angle, output logic, power supply, and controller input must match the opening and the intended use. It should not be treated as a universal replacement for every loop detector, photo eye, edge, or monitored safety device.
BEA’s LZR®-FLATSCAN S is a compact, single-curtain,
LASER-based sensor designed for use on automatic industrial
doors, gates, and barriers. Its precise technology ensures
accurate object detection across the 18 ft × 18 ft field, making
it capable of sensing people and vehicles, in both indoor and
outdoor environments.
The LZR®-FLATSCAN S is housed in a robust, IP66 rated,
metal enclosure. It can be installed in outdoor, industrial, and
other harsh environments.
Three visible LED spots provide accurate reference points that
aid in adjusting the tilt angle. Parameter adjustments can only
be made with a BEA UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL.
Inductive Loop Alternative
Virtual presence loop ideal for applications where cutting ground for
loops is prohibited, impossible, or expensive
Versatile Sensor Orientation
Left or right, horizontal or vertical sensor mounting allows for
convenient sensor installation based on application needs
Compact Design
Low-profile solution reduces risk of wear and tear in vehicle applications
Robust Construction
Metal enclosure and IP66 rating protects sensor in harsh environments
Reduce Unwanted Detections
Fog filter and additional immunity settings allow for field adjustments
to mitigate environmental interferences

Technician Note
BEA LZR products can look similar but are not interchangeable across all applications. Match the exact sensor family, handed side where applicable, mounting location, wiring, finish, included kit components, and controller requirements before ordering.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the exact BEA part number on the existing sensor, kit, or system label.
- Verify the application type before ordering: pedestrian swing door, automated window, gate, barrier, or industrial door.
- Check handing, finish color, kit contents, cable/harness condition, and power supply requirements.
- Confirm the controller input, relay logic, and any required monitoring method.
- Do not bypass required safety sensors or entrapment-protection devices during troubleshooting.
Professional Advisory
Laser-based safety and presence sensors should be installed, adjusted, and tested by a qualified automatic door or gate technician. After replacement, the complete system should be safety-tested for proper detection and reliable operation.
Product Questions and Answers
Can this replace an in-ground loop detector?
It may be used as a virtual presence loop in select gate, barrier, or industrial door applications, but the controller and field layout must be verified.
Does it work for both gates and doors?
Yes, it is commonly associated with industrial doors, gates, and barriers when the application supports a laser presence field.
What accessories should be checked?
Check whether the installation requires 10FSSMB, 10REMOTE, and a compatible power supply.
Is it a safety edge replacement?
No. Do not assume it replaces required safety edges, photo eyes, or monitored entrapment protection.
Why does setup matter?
Field size, mounting angle, and programmed detection area directly affect operation and nuisance detections.
