BEA 10SSTIII SuperScan-T Infrared Door Presence Sensor, SuperScan III assembly with 1 primary and 2 secondary modules
The BEA 10SSTIII SuperScan-T assembly is a door-mounted active infrared sensor package used where the sensor travels with the moving door leaf and watches the area near the panel as the door opens or closes. It is a practical replacement choice when the existing installation already uses the BEA SuperScan-T platform and the service tech needs to keep the same module layout, housing length, and wiring approach. Unlike a simple activation switch, this type of sensor is part of the door safety/presence package and needs to be matched to the door style, controller logic, and required safety setup.
This superscan iii assembly with 1 primary and 2 secondary modules version should be ordered by the exact part number whenever possible. The SuperScan-T family includes primary-only assemblies, primary/secondary assemblies, longer housings, custom lengths, quick-disconnect harnesses, and separate primary or secondary modules. Similar housings can look close in the field, but the installed module count, end-cap-to-end-cap length, and wiring layout must match the door system. For automatic pedestrian doors, final adjustment and safety verification should be performed by a qualified automatic door technician.
BEA’s SUPERSCAN-T INDUSTRIAL is an active infrared sensor designed for use in industrial environments that require presence and/or safety detection. This sensor can be used on automatic industrial doors, gates and industrial automation applications.
The SUPERSCAN-T INDUSTRIAL uses triangulation to detect the presence of an object, eliminating false detections caused by varying ground and environmental conditions.
In an industrial setting, this versatile sensor can be mounted stationary or on a moving object. Additionally, the SUPERSCAN-T INDUSTRIAL can be used as an individual module or daisy chained with up to 8 Secondary modules (9 total modules). This flexibility allows the SUPERSCAN-T INDUSTRIAL to be used on both narrow and wide doors and many other off door applications. Each module detection zone can be angled independently.

Technician Note
Use the original BEA label and the door manufacturer parts diagram as the final reference. SuperScan housings, modules, harnesses, and lock-out arrangements can vary by door package even when the sensor family looks similar.
Before Ordering
- Confirm the exact BEA part number on the existing sensor assembly.
- Measure or verify the housing length listed for the door package.
- Confirm whether the installation uses primary-only, primary/secondary, or additional secondary modules.
- Check the quick-disconnect harness and controller wiring requirements.
- Confirm all required automatic door safety devices are present and operating.
Professional Advisory
Do not bypass safety sensors or leave an automatic door in service with missing, disabled, or misaligned protection. Automatic door sensor setup should be tested after installation according to the door and sensor manufacturer requirements.
Product Questions
What is the BEA 10SSTIII used for?
The BEA 10SSTIII is used as a door-mounted active infrared presence sensor assembly for select automatic swinging, folding, revolving, low-energy, and industrial door applications that call for the SuperScan-T family.
Is 10SSTIII the same as every BEA SuperScan sensor?
No. SuperScan-T versions vary by housing length and module count. Match 10SSTIII, the original label, and the door parts diagram before replacing a primary-only, primary/secondary, or multi-secondary assembly.
Can this replace a gate photoeye?
No. This is a door-mounted infrared presence sensor assembly. It should not be used as a shortcut replacement for monitored gate photoeyes, monitored edges, or other operator-required entrapment protection.
Why does the housing length matter on 10SSTIII?
The housing length affects door coverage and mounting. A sensor that is too short, too long, or cut incorrectly may leave blind areas or interfere with the door frame, guide rail, or adjacent wall.
What should be checked before ordering 10SSTIII?
Check the existing BEA part number, housing length, number of primary and secondary modules, harness style, door type, and whether the controller requires any additional monitored safety devices or lock-out modules.
