HySecurity MX001718, Bearing and Shim Kit, Upper & Lower
The HySecurity MX001718 is a replacement upper and lower bearing and shim kit for select HySecurity and Nice HySecurity SwingRiser gate operator systems. It is commonly listed as Bearing and Shim Kit, Upper & Lower and SwingRiser Bearing and Shim Kit, Upper & Lower.
This kit is used in the SwingRiser post bearing area where the operators vertical tube and post assembly require proper bearing support and shim alignment. In the correct SwingRiser application, the upper and lower bearings help support the moving post/tube assembly while the shims are used to set the correct bearing fit and spacing.
Current listings describe MX001718 as including upper and lower post bearings made from UHMW material, sized 6.625 inches square by 3 inches, with a 90-degree cut for 4140 style tube. The kit is commonly listed as including 16 shims. Because SwingRiser bearing fitment depends on the post style, tube size, shim spacing, bearing wear, and parts diagram, MX001718 should be selected by exact HySecurity part number before ordering.
What This Bearing and Shim Kit Does
The MX001718 bearing and shim kit helps restore proper support and alignment in compatible SwingRiser post bearing assemblies. The UHMW bearings provide a low-friction wear surface, while the shims help center and space the bearing surfaces around the tube/post assembly.
If the upper or lower bearings are worn, loose, misaligned, cracked, missing shims, or installed with damaged fasteners, the gate may lift unevenly, bind, lean, chatter, rub, or place extra load on the SwingRiser hydraulic and structural components. Similar symptoms can also be caused by a bent tube, damaged post, worn fasteners, incorrect shimming, hydraulic cylinder issues, hinge or gate frame problems, or impact damage.
Compatible With
The HySecurity MX001718 is intended for select HySecurity / Nice HySecurity SwingRiser applications where this upper and lower bearing and shim kit is specified. Compatibility depends on the operator model, tube/post style, bearing size, bearing cut, shim stack, fasteners, and current HySecurity parts documentation.
- Select HySecurity SwingRiser applications where the parts diagram lists MX001718
- Select HySecurity SwingRiser 14 applications where the parts diagram confirms MX001718
- Select HySecurity SwingRiser 14 Twin applications where the parts diagram confirms MX001718
- SwingRiser upper and lower post bearing repairs where the original kit is marked, listed, or cross-referenced as MX001718
- SwingRiser post/tube bearing service where the installed assembly uses 6.625 inch square x 3 inch UHMW bearings with 90-degree cut for 4140 style tube
Do not assume MX001718 fits every HySecurity SwingRiser, HydraSwing, HydraLift, SlideDriver, SlideSmart, SwingSmart, StrongArm, HydraWedge, Smart DC, Smart Touch, or SmartCNX operator. Bearing and shim kits should be matched by parts diagram, dimensions, and post/tube configuration.
MX001718 vs. Similar Bearing and Mechanical Parts
HySecurity operators use several different bearing, shim, bushing, pin, and mechanical support parts. MX001718 should not be substituted for another bearing unless the parts diagram confirms it.
- MX001718: Upper and lower UHMW post bearing and shim kit for select SwingRiser applications.
- MX000770: Tapped 1.25-inch bearing used in select HydraSwing actuator assemblies, not the same part.
- MX3224: Trunnion housing bearing used in select HydraSwing 80F / 150 applications, not the same part.
- MX3058: Cylinder yoke pin for select HydraSwing actuator assemblies, not the same part.
- Drive wheel bearings: Used in drive wheel or roller assemblies, not the same as this SwingRiser post bearing kit.
- Complete SwingRiser post or tube assemblies: Larger mechanical assemblies that should not be assumed to include MX001718 unless listed.
The bearing, shims, fasteners, tube, post, and structural alignment should be inspected together. Replacing the bearings without correcting a bent tube, worn post, loose hardware, or incorrect shim stack can cause repeat wear.
Shim and Alignment Notes
Shims are used to help set the correct bearing fit around the SwingRiser post/tube assembly. HySecurity SwingRiser documentation notes that when replacing bearings, shim packs may be forced into the space between the bearing and square post, and the bearing gap should be checked so the bearings remain centered with consistent clearance.
Do not remove or guess shim placement without checking the current service procedure. Incorrect shimming can leave the post loose, off-center, or binding, and can cause uneven wear or poor gate movement.
Related SwingRiser Parts and Service Items
SwingRiser bearing replacement should be diagnosed with the complete mechanical and hydraulic system in mind. If the post bearing area is worn, inspect related components before deciding whether MX001718 is the only part needed.

- SwingRiser post and tube components where the bearing surfaces are worn, bent, or damaged
- SwingRiser hydraulic hand pump components where manual operation issues are being diagnosed
- SwingRiser hydraulic hose kits and fittings where leaks or restrictions are present
- SwingRiser hydraulic cylinder components where lift or movement problems are present
- SwingRiser gate hinges, brackets, frame, and mounting hardware where alignment problems are causing bearing wear
Not Intended For
- Universal UHMW bearing replacement
- HydraSwing tapped bearing applications that require MX000770
- HydraSwing trunnion bearing applications that require MX3224
- Replacing drive wheel bearings, yoke pins, trunnion pins, hydraulic cylinders, hose kits, or pump components unless those parts are separately ordered
- Correcting poor gate movement caused by a bent post, damaged tube, loose structure, worn fasteners, hydraulic issues, or gate misalignment without diagnosis
- Installing without checking shim stack, bearing gap, post condition, and parts diagram
Important Compatibility Warning
MX001718 should be selected by HySecurity part number, SwingRiser model, bearing dimensions, tube/post style, shim requirement, and parts diagram. A UHMW bearing that appears similar may not match the correct square size, thickness, cut profile, shim setup, or 4140 style tube application.
If the original bearings failed due to impact, improper shimming, post damage, worn fasteners, misalignment, or gate structure problems, replacing only the bearing kit may not correct the root issue. Inspect the full SwingRiser post and gate assembly before returning the operator to service.

Technician Note
Before replacing MX001718, inspect the SwingRiser post, tube, fasteners, bearing seats, and alignment. If the tube is bent, the post is worn, or the bearing fasteners are loose or damaged, a new bearing and shim kit may not correct the problem by itself.
Pay close attention to shim placement and bearing centering. Improper shimming can leave the post too loose, too tight, or off-center, causing binding, uneven lift, or early bearing wear.

Installation and Service Notes
Disable the operator and secure the gate before servicing the SwingRiser bearing area. SwingRiser systems involve heavy gate movement, lifting force, pinch points, hydraulic load, and close-tolerance mechanical alignment.
When replacing the bearings, keep the bearing surfaces clean and compare the new parts to the original before installation. Shim the bearings according to the current HySecurity service procedure, verify the post remains centered, and check for smooth full travel before returning the operator to service.
Professional Advisory
SwingRiser bearing and shim replacement requires careful alignment. A qualified HySecurity gate technician should handle this repair if the gate is heavy, the post is damaged, the tube is bent, the bearing gap is unclear, or the operator has repeated binding or wear.
Do not bypass covers, guards, limits, monitored entrapment protection, photo eyes, safety edges, hydraulic controls, disconnects, or controller protections to make the operator run. The mechanical assembly, hydraulic system, and safety devices should be repaired correctly and fully tested before the operator is returned to service.
