Transmitter Solutions TRARAY418ELPW2V Stingray 418 MHz Elite Compatibility Details
The Transmitter Solutions TRARAY418ELPW2V is the Gate Openers Unlimited catalog SKU for the Stingray transmitter identified by Transmitter Solutions as model 418ELPW2V. This is a programmable two-button visor transmitter operating at 418 MHz for compatible long-range radio and access control applications.
The exact model-specific manufacturer cut sheet identifies Elite DT-418-2 compatibility. The current Transmitter Solutions product webpage instead lists Elite DT-418 compatibility. Because the manufacturer's current webpage and exact two-button cut sheet do not use the same Elite model reference, verify the existing transmitter and receiver before ordering this model as a replacement.
What This Transmitter Does
The 418ELPW2V sends an individually numbered 418 MHz wireless credential to a compatible receiver. The transmitter provides two green buttons identified in the manufacturer manual as Button A and Button B.
This is a programmable transmitter and does not use a DIP-switch code bank. Each transmitter is manufactured with a factory-set sequence number and facility code. That credential information must be programmed into compatible system memory.
Two physical buttons do not automatically mean the installation has two gates or two receiver relays. The receiver and access control configuration determine the function assigned to each transmitter button.
All Verified Compatibility
- Elite DT-418-2 transmitter applications - specifically identified on the exact Transmitter Solutions 418ELPW2V cut sheet.
- Elite DT-418 applications - listed on the current Transmitter Solutions 418ELPW2V product webpage; verify the installed system because this conflicts with the exact two-button cut sheet.
- Wiegand 26-bit programmable telephone entry system applications using a compatible 418 MHz receiver and supported transmitter credential format.
- Anti-burglar system applications using a compatible 418 MHz receiver and supported transmitter credential format.
- Access control system applications using a compatible 418 MHz receiver and supported transmitter credential format.
Elite DT-418 and DT-418-2 Documentation Difference
The exact Transmitter Solutions 418ELPW2V cut sheet repeatedly identifies this two-button transmitter as Elite DT-418-2 compatible. The current manufacturer webpage for 418ELPW2V lists Elite DT-418 compatibility.
Transmitter Solutions separately documents the one-button 418ELPW1V as compatible with Elite DT-418. Because the manufacturer references overlap on the current webpage, the safest replacement check is the exact original transmitter label, button count, 418 MHz receiver system, and credential requirements.
Do not assume that DT-418 and DT-418-2 are interchangeable in every legacy receiver installation solely from the current webpage wording.
Programmable Facility Code and Sequence Number
The manufacturer manual states that each Stingray 418ELPWxV transmitter is manufactured and sold with a different factory-set sequence number and facility code.
The transmitter facility code and sequence number must be programmed into the compatible system memory. This is different from copying a DIP-switch pattern from an existing remote.
For HOA, community, apartment, commercial, parking, or other managed access applications, confirm the required facility code and transmitter-number arrangement before ordering additional transmitters.
26-Bit Receiver Application Caution
The manufacturer manual states that the transmitter is designed for programmable telephone entry, anti-burglar, and access control systems and describes use with receivers capable of receiving a 26-bit input.
This should not be treated as universal compatibility with every Wiegand or 26-bit device. The receiving equipment must also support the applicable 418 MHz Stingray radio transmission and credential handling. A control panel with a 26-bit Wiegand input does not by itself prove that it contains a compatible 418 MHz radio receiver.
Verify the actual radio receiver model and access control interface before ordering for a new installation.
Long-Range 418 MHz Performance
The exact model cut sheet and transmitter manual list a free-space operating range of 60 to 120 yards. Actual installed range can be lower because of receiver antenna placement, metal operator cabinets, buildings, radio interference, and other site conditions.
If an existing transmitter suddenly works only at short range, check the transmitter battery and receiver antenna installation before assuming the transmitter model is incorrect.
Two-Button Stingray Configuration
The manufacturer manual documents the following 418 MHz Stingray visor models:
- 418ELPW1V - one-button Stingray visor transmitter.
- 418ELPW2V - two-button Stingray visor transmitter.
The 418ELPW2V uses Button A and Button B. Record the current function of each button before replacing an existing two-button transmitter.
Similar Parts Are Not Automatically Interchangeable
418ELPW1V is the related one-button Stingray visor transmitter. Its exact cut sheet identifies Elite DT-418 compatibility. It is not the same button configuration as the two-button 418ELPW2V.
418ELPW1K-C and 418ELPW2K-C are listed by Transmitter Solutions in the Monarch 418 MHz keychain transmitter family. They are different transmitter models and housing styles and should not automatically be treated as the same packaged product as the Stingray visor transmitter.
318 MHz, 433 MHz, and other-frequency Stingray transmitters are not replacements for the 418ELPW2V based only on housing shape or button count. The receiver frequency and transmitter credential protocol must match.
A fixed-code DIP-switch transmitter is not an automatic replacement for this programmable transmitter. The 418ELPW2V uses a factory-set sequence number and facility code that must be entered into compatible system memory.

Package and Battery Check
The manufacturer specifies one 12V type 23A alkaline battery as the transmitter power source. The public model cut sheet and manual do not clearly list every current retail package component or confirm visor hardware and a fresh battery as included in every package. Confirm current package contents when those items are specifically required.
Technician Note
The biggest ordering issue with the 418ELPW2V is the manufacturer's own Elite model-reference difference. The exact two-button cut sheet says Elite DT-418-2 compatible, while the current product webpage says Elite DT-418. Check the old transmitter label, count two buttons, verify 418 MHz, and identify the receiver before ordering. Do not match the remote by Elite name or green buttons alone.

Programming and Service Notes
The transmitter facility code and factory-set sequence number must be programmed into the compatible system memory. Use the programming procedure for the exact installed receiver, telephone entry system, or access control system.
Do not attempt to program the 418ELPW2V by copying DIP-switch positions. The manufacturer manual states that an installer or reseller should provide the programming instructions for the applicable system.
The manufacturer specifies one 12V type 23A alkaline battery. To access the battery, slide out the battery door and install the 23A battery with the polarity shown in the transmitter enclosure. The red LED should illuminate when either transmitter button is pressed.
If the transmitter LED does not illuminate, the manufacturer troubleshooting guide directs the user to replace the transmitter battery. If the LED is on but the system does not receive the signal, verify that the transmitter is programmed into the system. Reduced operating range is also a manufacturer-listed reason to replace the battery.
Professional Advisory
Do not bypass photo eyes, monitored safety edges, entrapment protection, emergency access, fire access, door reversal systems, or operator safety circuits while troubleshooting a transmitter or receiver problem. Unclear receiver wiring, Wiegand interfaces, operator inputs, or access control electrical problems should be inspected by a qualified gate, garage door, or access control technician.
Product Questions and Answers
Is TRARAY418ELPW2V the same transmitter model as 418ELPW2V?
TRARAY418ELPW2V is the supplied catalog SKU, while Transmitter Solutions identifies the Stingray transmitter itself as model 418ELPW2V. Verify the exact 418 MHz transmitter model and installed receiver before ordering.
Is the Stingray 418ELPW2V compatible with Elite DT-418-2?
Yes. The exact Transmitter Solutions 418ELPW2V cut sheet specifically identifies Elite DT-418-2 compatibility. Verify the existing 418 MHz receiver and transmitter credential requirements before adding or replacing a remote.
Why does the current Transmitter Solutions webpage say Elite DT-418 instead of DT-418-2?
The current 418ELPW2V webpage lists Elite DT-418 compatibility, while the exact model-specific cut sheet identifies Elite DT-418-2. Transmitter Solutions separately identifies the one-button 418ELPW1V with Elite DT-418. Because the manufacturer documents do not match, verify the original transmitter and receiver before ordering.
Does the TRARAY418ELPW2V use DIP switches?
No. The 418ELPW2V is a programmable transmitter with a factory-set facility code and sequence number. That credential information must be programmed into compatible system memory.
