Linear Pro Access FM140 Exit Wand Vehicle Sensor - 100 Ft Cable
The FM140 is the 100 ft version of the Linear / GTO wired exit wand family. It is used on driveway gate systems where vehicles should trigger the gate from the exit side without a transmitter or keypad. The longer direct-burial cable gives the installer more room to place the sensor in a clean detection area while still reaching the control box without a wireless transmitter. Like the FM139, the FM140 senses moving iron-based metal and provides a relay pulse to the operator. Correct installation depends on cable routing, burial depth, sensor orientation, distance from the driveway edge, and keeping the sensor away from the moving gate leaf or other metal that could create false activation. It is a useful accessory for residents, delivery vehicles, and service access, but it must be treated only as an activation device, not a safety system.

Technician Note
Choose FM140 when the sensor location and control box distance call for the 100 ft cable. If the site needs much more distance, look at FM141-style versions instead of making questionable cable repairs.
Before Ordering
- Measure the actual cable route, not just the straight-line distance.
- Verify the operator input accepts the wand relay pulse.
- Confirm the wand will be installed on the exit side of the property.
- Keep the wand out of the moving gate path and away from large moving metal.
- Keep monitored safety devices installed and working.
Important Ordering Warnings
- Do not install the FM140 as a safety reversing device. It is for exit activation only.
Professional Advisory
Because vehicle sensors can cause automatic gate movement, final testing should verify open command behavior, auto-close behavior, and safety-device response before the site is returned to service.
Product Questions and Answers
How is FM140 different from FM139?
FM140 is the 100 ft wired exit wand version, while FM139 is the 50 ft version.
Can the FM140 be used with non-Linear gate operators?
It may be used with many operators that accept a compatible dry-contact exit command, but voltage, wiring, and control input must be verified.
Does the FM140 replace a loop detector?
It can provide exit activation, but it is not the same as a full loop detector layout and it is not a safety loop.
Why does placement matter with the FM140?
Improper placement can cause missed detection or nuisance openings from nearby moving metal, gate movement, or vehicles in the wrong area.
What should be checked before replacing the wand?
Check power, wiring, terminal connections, sensitivity adjustment, cable damage, and whether the control board is receiving the exit pulse.
