HySecurity MX000480, VALVE,RELIEF,15 GPM,3000 PSI
The HySecurity MX000480 is a replacement high-pressure hydraulic relief valve for select HySecurity and Nice HySecurity hydraulic gate operator systems. It is commonly listed as VALVE, RELIEF, 15 GPM, 3000 PSI and as a high pressure soft start operators relief valve.
This valve is used in compatible hydraulic circuits where system pressure must be controlled or relieved at a specified range. In a hydraulic gate operator, the relief valve helps protect and regulate the hydraulic system by limiting pressure when the system reaches the valve setting. This can affect gate movement, hydraulic force, soft-start behavior, pressure response, and overall operator performance.
MX000480 should be selected by HySecurity part number, operator model, hydraulic manifold, valve cavity, flow rating, pressure rating, and parts diagram. Do not order by the words relief valve alone. HySecurity hydraulic operators may use different relief valves, brake valves, counterbalance valves, check valves, directional valves, valve coils, pump packs, and soft-start manifolds depending on operator family and production configuration.
What This Relief Valve Does
The MX000480 relief valve is designed to relieve hydraulic pressure when the circuit reaches the valves rated pressure range. In compatible HySecurity systems, this helps manage pressure within the pump pack, soft-start manifold, or hydraulic control circuit.
If the relief valve is leaking, sticking, contaminated, incorrectly adjusted, installed in the wrong cavity, or matched to the wrong hydraulic system, the operator may move weakly, stall, chatter, build excessive pressure, operate inconsistently, trip faults, or fail to move the gate properly. These symptoms can also be caused by low hydraulic fluid, contaminated fluid, leaking hoses, bad quick disconnects, a weak pump pack, worn hydraulic motor, brake valve problems, soft-start issues, poor gate movement, or controller-related problems.
Compatible With
The HySecurity MX000480 is intended for select HySecurity / Nice HySecurity hydraulic operator applications where this 15 GPM, 3000 PSI relief valve is specified. Compatibility depends on the exact operator model, hydraulic manifold, relief valve cavity, pressure rating, flow rating, soft-start layout, pump pack configuration, and current HySecurity parts documentation.
- Select HySecurity hydraulic gate operators where MX000480 is listed as the 3000 PSI relief valve
- Select high-pressure soft-start operator hydraulic circuits where MX000480 is specified
- Select pump pack or soft-start manifold service applications where the parts diagram confirms MX000480
- Select SlideDriver and HydraLift hydraulic service applications where the parts diagram lists MX000480
- Operator repairs where the original relief valve is marked, listed, or cross-referenced as MX000480
Do not assume MX000480 fits every HySecurity hydraulic operator. Similar systems may use relief valves with different pressure settings, flow ratings, adjustment ranges, valve cavities, cartridge styles, or hydraulic functions.
MX000480 vs. Related Hydraulic Valves
HySecurity hydraulic systems use several valve types that may look similar but perform different jobs. MX000480 should not be substituted for another valve unless the parts diagram confirms it.
- MX000480: 15 GPM, 3000 PSI high-pressure relief valve.
- MX000659: Related 1500 PSI EX relief valve / soft-start operator relief valve, not the same part.
- MX000657: 3:1 counterbalance / brake valve, not the same part.
- MX000171: Related check valve reference used in select HySecurity hydraulic systems, not the same part.
- MX001257: Related directional valve with manual function, not the same part.
- MX000184: Related 24VDC directional valve coil, not the same part.
Relief valves, counterbalance valves, brake valves, check valves, directional valves, and coils are not interchangeable just because they are part of the same hydraulic system. Match the part number, pressure rating, flow rating, valve function, cavity, and operator documentation before ordering.
Related Soft-Start and Pump Pack Notes
MX000480 may be encountered during soft-start manifold, pump pack, or pressure-control service. It should be kept separate from complete soft-start kits, pump pack assemblies, and pressure gauge kits.
- MX001276: Face down AWOG soft-start manifold kit used in select HySecurity hydraulic applications.
- MX000618: Face down AWOG hose assembly / plugged AWOG assembly used in select pump pack layouts.
- MX001106: 2000 PSI hydraulic pressure gauge kit used for pressure testing in select HySecurity hydraulic systems.
- MX000480: Individual 15 GPM, 3000 PSI relief valve used where the parts diagram specifies this valve.
If the repair requires a complete manifold kit, pump pack, hose assembly, or pressure gauge setup, ordering the individual relief valve alone may not provide all parts needed for service.
Not Intended For
- Universal hydraulic relief valve replacement
- Replacing a 1500 PSI relief valve such as MX000659
- Replacing a counterbalance / brake valve such as MX000657
- Replacing a check valve, directional valve, valve coil, complete pump pack, or soft-start manifold kit
- Replacing hydraulic hose kits, hydraulic motors, reservoirs, controller boards, or electric motors
- Correcting weak movement caused by gate drag, worn drive wheels, low fluid, contaminated fluid, leaking hoses, weak pump output, or incorrect limit setup without diagnosis
- Changing hydraulic pressure settings without the correct HySecurity service procedure and pressure gauge
- Opening or removing a hydraulic valve from a pressurized circuit
Important Compatibility Warning
MX000480 should be selected by HySecurity part number and hydraulic circuit location, not by appearance alone. The valve cavity, pressure rating, flow rating, adjustment style, and hydraulic function must match the original valve.
Relief valve adjustment can affect gate force, hydraulic performance, and inherent entrapment sensor behavior on applicable HySecurity operators. Incorrect relief valve selection or adjustment can cause weak gate travel, excessive pressure, heat buildup, component damage, or unsafe gate operation.

Technician Note
Relief valve problems should be diagnosed with a pressure gauge and the correct HySecurity service procedure. A gate that is weak, slow, chattering, or not moving may have a relief valve issue, but it may also have low fluid, contaminated fluid, a leaking hose, a worn hydraulic motor, bad quick disconnects, a weak pump pack, incorrect brake behavior, or mechanical gate drag.
Do not increase relief pressure to force a hard-moving gate to run. A dragging gate, damaged track, worn rollers, bad hinges, or poor alignment should be corrected mechanically. Raising pressure beyond the proper setting can damage hydraulic components and create unsafe gate operation.

- Confirm whether seals, O-rings, adjustment cap, fittings, instructions, or manifold hardware are included or must be ordered separately.
Installation and Service Notes
Hydraulic relief valve service should be performed with the operator disabled, the gate secured, and the hydraulic system handled according to the current HySecurity service procedure. Do not remove hydraulic valves from a pressurized circuit.
Keep the valve and manifold area clean during service. Dirt or metal particles inside a relief valve or manifold can cause sticking, leakage, chatter, poor pressure control, or inconsistent movement. After replacement, pressure should be checked with the proper gauge and the operator should be tested through full travel to confirm smooth movement, correct stopping, leak-free operation, and working safety devices.
Professional Advisory
Relief valve service can affect gate force, hydraulic pressure, and operator safety behavior. A qualified HySecurity gate technician should handle this repair if the operator is weak, chattering, overheating, leaking, tripping faults, or showing repeated hydraulic pressure problems.
Do not bypass pressure controls, brake valves, covers, guards, limits, monitored entrapment protection, photo eyes, safety edges, disconnects, or controller protections during hydraulic service. The operator should be fully tested after repair to confirm safe and predictable movement.
