Liftmaster / Link CPS 1C4489, 41K4629, 41C4489, CPICard
The LiftMaster CPICARD is a commercial interface card used in specific safety-device retrofit and compatibility applications. It is commonly used where a supported monitored photo eye, monitored edge, or light curtain must interface with a non-monitored commercial operator setup. In the field, this part is often requested when upgrading older equipment, replacing a missing interface module, or trying to connect newer LiftMaster commercial safety devices to an older operator configuration.
This is not a bypass device and it should not be treated as a universal safety conversion. The CPICARD may monitor the device-to-module connection, but that does not automatically convert every older operator into a fully monitored UL 325 compliant system. The correct operator wiring diagram, approved safety device, and intended mode of operation must be reviewed before installation.
Compatible With
- Select LiftMaster commercial door operator applications where the manual or wiring diagram calls for CPICARD / 41K4629 style interface card
- LiftMaster CPS-U monitored photo eye applications where an interface card is required
- LiftMaster CPS-OPEN4 monitored photo eye applications where supported by the operator setup
- LiftMaster CPS-RPEN4 monitored retro-reflective photo eye applications where supported by the operator setup
- LiftMaster OES monitored safety edge applications where supported by the operator setup
- LiftMaster LC-36A / LC36 style light curtain applications where supported by the operator setup
- Select retrofit applications where a monitored safety device must provide compatible signal handling to a non-monitored operator input
- Not a universal card for all LiftMaster operators, and not a substitute for required monitored entrapment protection on newer monitored-safety operators

Technician Note
The CPICARD should be selected from the operator manual or wiring diagram, not only from the safety sensor model. The same photo eye may be wired differently depending on the operator generation and required monitoring method.
Before Ordering Checklist
- Confirm the commercial operator model and wiring diagram call for CPICARD or 41K4629.
- Confirm the safety device type, such as CPS-U, CPS-OPEN4, CPS-RPEN4, OES, or LC-36A.
- Confirm whether the operator requires monitored entrapment protection or only supports a non-monitored input.
- Do not use this card to bypass a failed or missing safety device.
- Have a qualified commercial door technician review the installation if code compliance or monitored safety requirements are uncertain.
Professional Advisory
Entrapment protection is a safety-critical system. Do not bypass safety sensors, monitored edges, or light curtains. If the operator moves without proper safety protection or if the safety circuit is unclear, stop using the equipment and have it inspected by a qualified technician.
Important Ordering Warnings
- The CPICARD can help interface supported monitored devices, but it does not make every older operator fully compliant with current monitored-safety requirements.
- Do not assume all CPS, OES, or light curtain products wire the same way. Use the operator wiring diagram.
Product Questions & Answers
What is the LiftMaster CPICARD used for?
The CPICARD is an interface card used to connect select monitored photo eyes, monitored edges, or light curtains to certain non-monitored commercial operator applications.
Which safety devices are commonly associated with CPICARD?
Common references include CPS-U, CPS-OPEN4, CPS-RPEN4, OES monitored edge systems, and LC-36A light curtains, depending on the operator and installation.
Does CPICARD make an older operator fully UL 325 monitored?
No. It can monitor the connection between the safety device and the interface module, but it does not automatically convert every older operator into a fully monitored safety system.
Is 41K4629 the same as CPICARD?
41K4629, 041K4629, 1C4489, 41C4489, CPI, and CPICARD are commonly listed as related references for this interface card family.
Can this be installed to bypass a safety requirement?
No. Safety devices should never be bypassed. The CPICARD should only be used in approved configurations with the correct operator and monitored entrapment protection device.
