Transmitter Solutions 318LIPW1V Stingray 318 MHz Linear Compatibility Details
The Transmitter Solutions TRARAY318LIPW1V is the Gate Openers Unlimited catalog SKU for the Stingray transmitter identified by Transmitter Solutions as model 318LIPW1V. This is a programmable one-button visor transmitter operating at 318 MHz for compatible Linear radio, telephone entry, security, and access control applications.
Transmitter Solutions specifically identifies the 318LIPW1V as compatible with Linear MCT-1 and MDT-1 transmitter applications. The transmitter uses a factory-set sequence number and facility code and must be programmed into compatible system memory. It is not a DIP-switch transmitter.
What This Transmitter Does
The 318LIPW1V sends an individually numbered 318 MHz wireless credential to a compatible receiver. The transmitter has one blue Button A for the authorized function assigned by the receiver or access control system.
The connected receiver determines what Button A operates. Depending on the properly configured system, the receiver may provide an access control, gate, garage door, or other authorized control function.
Matching 318 MHz frequency alone does not establish compatibility. The receiver protocol and transmitter credential format must also match.

Linear MCT-1 Compatibility
The current Transmitter Solutions product page and exact 318LIPW1V cut sheet specifically identify Linear MCT-1 compatibility.
Linear documents the original MCT-1 as a MegaCode digital transmitter designed for automatic garage and gate operators. The original MCT-1 does not use a conventional coding switch. Its unique factory code must be learned into compatible receiver memory.
The Stingray 318LIPW1V is a Transmitter Solutions product and should not be described as the same physical transmitter as the original Linear MCT-1. The verified relationship is compatibility with the documented MCT-1 transmitter application.
The original Linear MCT-1 and the Stingray also have different published product specifications. The original Linear MCT-1 documentation specifies a 9V battery, while the Stingray 318LIPW1V uses one 12V type 23A alkaline battery. Use the battery specified for the actual transmitter in hand.
Linear MDT-1 Compatibility and Model Suffix Caution
Transmitter Solutions also specifically identifies Linear MDT-1 compatibility for the 318LIPW1V.
Current Linear documentation separately identifies MDT-1A and MDT-1B transmitter versions. The exact Transmitter Solutions 318LIPW1V product page and cut sheet use the general "MDT-1" compatibility reference and do not individually list MDT-1A or MDT-1B by suffix.
Because model generations and block-coded credential requirements can differ, verify the complete MDT transmitter label and installed receiver or access controller before assuming compatibility with a specific MDT-1 suffix.
HIVE-1000 Receiver Compatibility
Current Transmitter Solutions HIVE-1000 documentation specifically lists one-button and two-button 318 MHz Stingray transmitters as compatible. The same HIVE-1000 compatibility information separately identifies Linear MCT-1/MDT-1 and MCT-2/MDT-2 transmitters.
The HIVE-1000 is a dual-frequency two-relay receiver operating at 318 MHz and 433.92 MHz. Its current specifications identify Linear MegaCode as a supported 318 MHz security protocol and provide memory for up to 512 transmitters at 318 MHz.
HIVE-1000 transmitter pairing and receiver management are handled through the manufacturer's Bluetooth mobile app using Classic or Rapid programming modes.
The HIVE-1000 documentation lists a maximum of four facility codes for the receiver. This receiver limit should not be confused with the 16 facility codes described in the Stingray transmitter family documentation. Verify the facility-code configuration used by the actual receiver.
HIVE 318MHz-1000 Receiver Compatibility
Transmitter Solutions documents the HIVE 318MHz-1000 as a stand-alone programmable 318 MHz receiver compatible with Linear MegaCode transmitters. The receiver cut sheet also specifically lists Stingray 318 MHz transmitters as accessories.
The HIVE 318MHz-1000 is a one-channel receiver with a documented 1,000-user capacity and LCD programming display. Confirm the exact receiver model and use its programming procedure when adding a 318LIPW1V transmitter.
One transmitter button does not create additional receiver channels. The 318LIPW1V provides Button A, while the one-channel receiver determines the connected control function.
HIVE Wiegand Receiver Compatibility
Transmitter Solutions documents Stingray 318 MHz transmitters as accessories for the HIVE Wiegand Receiver. The receiver is available in documented 295 MHz, 318 MHz, or 433 MHz configurations and provides a Wiegand output for compatible 26-bit devices.
The 318LIPW1V transmitter itself does not have a wired Wiegand connection. It sends its wireless 318 MHz credential to the compatible radio receiver. The HIVE Wiegand Receiver provides the wired Wiegand interface to the access control equipment.
Verify that the installed HIVE Wiegand Receiver is the compatible 318 MHz configuration. A 295 MHz or 433 MHz version is not a frequency match for the 318LIPW1V.
Factory-Set Facility Code and Sequence Number
The Transmitter Solutions Stingray manual states that each 318LIPWxV transmitter is manufactured and sold with a different factory-set sequence number and facility code.
The transmitter facility code and sequence number must be programmed into compatible system memory. This is different from opening a fixed-code transmitter and copying DIP-switch positions.
The Stingray manual documents a 16-bit security code providing 65,536 code combinations and a 4-bit facility-code field providing up to 16 facility codes.
For an HOA, gated community, apartment property, commercial facility, parking application, or other managed access system, verify the required facility code and transmitter-number arrangement before ordering additional transmitters.
26-Bit System Application Caution
The Transmitter Solutions manual describes each Stingray transmitter as individually numbered and documents use with compatible receivers capable of handling the supported 26-bit input and access control systems equipped with the same protocol.
The exact 318LIPW1V cut sheet also describes Wiegand 26-bit programmable telephone entry, anti-burglar, and access control applications.
Do not assume the transmitter works directly with every control panel that accepts 26-bit Wiegand. The system also requires a compatible 318 MHz radio receiver that recognizes the transmitter protocol. A Wiegand input alone does not receive a wireless 318 MHz signal.
318 MHz Range and Radio Performance
The manufacturer documents AM/ASK modulation and a free-space transmitter range of 60 to 120 yards. Actual installed range can be lower because of receiver antenna placement, metal gate operator cabinets, buildings, radio interference, and other site conditions.
If an existing transmitter suddenly operates only at close range, check the 23A battery and receiver antenna condition before assuming the transmitter model or protocol is incorrect.
One-Button Stingray Configuration
The Transmitter Solutions 318LIP transmitter manual identifies two Stingray visor models:
- 318LIPW1V - one-button Stingray transmitter with blue Button A.
- 318LIPW2V - two-button Stingray transmitter with blue Buttons A and B.
The exact 318LIPW1V is the one-button version. Confirm that the application requires only the function assigned to Button A before replacing a two-button transmitter with this model.
Similar Parts Are Not Automatically Interchangeable
318LIPW2V is the related two-button Stingray visor transmitter. Transmitter Solutions identifies that model with Linear MCT-2 and MDT-2 compatibility. Do not substitute the one-button 318LIPW1V when the existing system requires a second button or multiple transmitter functions.
TRALUN318LIPW1K-C is a Luna one-button 318 MHz Linear-compatible keychain transmitter. It is a separate transmitter family with a different housing and battery system. Its exact manufacturer documentation identifies Linear ACT-31B and ACT-21B applications rather than the MCT-1 and MDT-1 applications listed for the Stingray 318LIPW1V.
318DOPW1V is a Stingray 318 MHz one-button transmitter documented for a DoorKing MicroCLIK-compatible protocol. The DOP and LIP suffixes identify different transmitter applications. Do not substitute the DOP model for the Linear-compatible LIP transmitter based only on 318 MHz frequency and one-button appearance.
318 MHz DIP-switch transmitters are not automatic replacements for the programmable 318LIPW1V. Match the complete transmitter model, receiver protocol, and credential requirements before ordering.

Manufacturer Current-Consumption Documentation Difference
The exact 318LIPW1V model cut sheet lists current consumption as 20 mA. The Transmitter Solutions 318LIPWxV family manual lists current consumption as 25 mA.
Because the manufacturer's own documents do not agree, do not use current consumption as a compatibility identifier. The complete transmitter model, 318 MHz frequency, Linear-compatible protocol, and receiver credential requirements are the important ordering checks.

Package and Battery Check
The manufacturer specifies one 12V type 23A alkaline battery as the transmitter power source and identifies the product as a visor transmitter. Current public manufacturer documentation does not clearly list every retail package component or specifically confirm a new battery or separate visor mounting accessory in every package. Confirm current package contents when those items are specifically required.
Technician Note
The biggest ordering mistake with the 318LIPW1V is matching only "318 MHz" and "1 button." Check the LIP model family and receiver protocol. Transmitter Solutions specifically documents Linear MCT-1 and MDT-1 compatibility. Do not substitute a DOP MicroCLIK transmitter, a 318 MHz DIP-switch remote, or a Luna ACT-compatible transmitter based only on frequency and button count. For an MDT application, also record the complete model suffix because current Linear documentation identifies distinct MDT-1A and MDT-1B versions while the Transmitter Solutions compatibility reference simply states MDT-1.

Programming and Service Notes
The transmitter facility code and factory-set sequence number must be programmed into compatible system memory. Use the enrollment procedure for the exact installed receiver, telephone entry system, or access control platform.
Do not attempt to program the 318LIPW1V by copying DIP-switch positions. The transmitter does not use a DIP-switch code bank.
The manufacturer specifies one 12V type 23A alkaline battery. Battery access is through the sliding battery door. Install the battery with the polarity shown in the transmitter enclosure. The red LED should illuminate when Button A is pressed.
If the transmitter LED does not illuminate, the manufacturer troubleshooting information directs the user to replace the transmitter battery. If the LED is on but the system does not receive the signal, verify that the transmitter is programmed into the system. Reduced operating range is also a manufacturer-listed reason to replace the battery.
If short range continues with a known-good battery, inspect the receiver antenna location and radio environment. Radio interference and metal equipment enclosures can reduce operating range.
Professional Advisory
Do not bypass photo eyes, monitored safety edges, entrapment protection, emergency access, fire access, garage door reversal systems, or operator safety circuits while troubleshooting a transmitter or receiver problem. Unclear receiver wiring, Wiegand interfaces, gate operator inputs, garage door controls, or access control electrical faults should be inspected by a qualified gate, garage door, or access control technician.
